Kyuhyun’s POV
Dinner was a nice event, with her mom doing a lot of talking to me, generally asking questions about my family and hobbies.
Sooyoung’s mom is really nice. I wish my mom was like that.
I kept glancing at Sooyoung. I don’t know why; my eyes just kept straying towards Sooyoung.
After dinner, I went home and logged on to Windows Live Messenger.
-DancingMachine-: So…
-GameKyu-:What?
-DancingMachine-:Did something good happen?
-GameKyu-:Depends on what is ‘good’.
-Fishy-:You know…
-DancingMachine-:THAT.
-GameKyu-:Oh. That. Ugh. No way.
-PinkRulez-:Guys, chill. I don’t think that they would do that the first few days they met.
-EvilDude-:Want to bet? Five hundred won they will in this week..
-GameKyu-:Umm…hello guys. I’m still here. Unless you want to be gutted by GameKyu, shut up.
-Fishy-:Six hundred won they will.
-DancingMachine-:Two thousand won they won’t.
-GameKyu-:Thanks for supporting me to do something illegal, but no. I don’t even love her.
-PinkRockz-: Two thousand won they won’t.
-GameKyu-:What the- I’m going to ignore you. Annyeong.
GameKyu has logged out.
-EvilDude-:Bet still on?
-PinkRockz-:Duh.
They are crazy, I thought to myself as I laid on my bed, ready for an early night.
(ANOTHER CHATROOM…)
-SlamDunk-:Yo, Im Yoona!
-PrettyGirl-:What.
-SlamDunk-:Why are so pissed off with that new girl?
-PrettyGirl-:The little wrench made me look bad in front of Kyuhyun!
-PrettyBoy-Chill out sis. She’ll pay someday.
-AngelTeukie-:I don’t think she meant to do that.
-BlackPearl-:Excuse me?!
-AngelTeukie-Nothing…
-Horse-:She’s really pretty though.
-Taenggoo-:Well…maybe a little…
-EyeSmile-:Still, she made Yoona look bad, so…
-Horse-:…she has to suffer horribly.
-SlamDunk-:Here’s what we’re going to do…
Sooyoung’s POV
The next morning, I was tying my hair into a ponytail when my mom yelled at me from the kitchen. ‘Be faster! Kyuhyun is waiting for you downstairs!’
Wait. What?
I checked myself in the full-length mirror in my bedroom and ran down the stairs, crashing into Kyuhyun. ‘Woah there.’ He grinned.
I giggled. ‘Sorry.’ I flounced into the kitchen. ‘Good morning, mom!’
'Hey, Soo, here’s your breakfast- a waffle.’ My mother handed me the waffle and my book bag.
‘Thanks, mom. I’ll be off now. Bye!’ I skipped out and started to wolf down the waffle. ‘Let’s go, Kyuhyun.’
I walked with him in silence, probably because I was very busy chomping down the waffle. Yum.
‘So…you’re still coming tonight, right?’ He suddenly asked.
‘Huh?’ Confusedly, I stared at him.
‘The singing contest tonight.’ He reminded me.
‘Oh, of course. I’ll come.’
‘Great.’ We lapsed into silence again, until I realised that he was openly staring at me.
‘Why are you staring at me? Did I get some peanut butter on my chin?’ I touched my chin.
‘Not really…here, let me help.’ Kyuhyun touched the corner of my mouth and wiped off the peanut butter. I gaped at him. ‘Kyuhyun…’
‘What- Oh. Did it make you uncomfortable?’ Kyuhyun laughed nervously.
‘No.’ Actually my skin was tinging from his touch, but I wasn’t about to tell him that.
We kept silent for the rest of the journey. Hurrying to our lockers, we grabbed our books. Suddenly, Kyuhyun slammed into me. I was about to scold him when I noticed him shaking slightly.
‘Little freak, still looking dorky I see.’ A bulky guy slammed him against his locker. Seven other boys and girls stood behind him, sneering.
They must the school bullies Kyuhyun mentioned…
‘Forget it. He’s not worth it.’ A girl walked past and caught sight of me cowering. Im Yoona.
‘Well, look who’s here. What a jerk, trying to replace poor So Hee.’ Im Yoona slapped me, and boy, did it hurt.
His wounds and fear forgotten, Kyuhyun slammed Yoona down onto the floor, took my hand, and sprinted to our classroom. We sat down, panting.
Catching my breath, I gasped, ‘You...okay?’
'Yes.’ He growled.
‘Then… Can I ask you something?’
‘Sure.’ He gulped down some water.
‘Who’s So Hee?’
‘She’s the girl I love but she hates me.’ He said flatly.
I thought for a moment. ‘Tell you what, I’ll help you!’
‘Eh?’
I ignored him. ‘What does she like?’ Please be football, please be football…
‘Cheerleading and singing.’
‘I can join cheerleading. I’ve done it before. Are you in a band or singing group?’
‘No.’ He frowned. ‘What’s joining cheerleading going to do?’
‘Shut up. Do you guys play some instruments?’
‘Sungmin and I play the guitar, Donghae and Eunhyuk play bass, Seohyun and Jessica plays the keyboard. Although Changmin and Hyoyeon don’t play any instruments, they can compose songs. But we need a drummer.’
‘I’ve learnt drumming since I was four.’ I grinned.
‘So?’
‘Well, if So Hee agrees to be the singer in this band, you’ll see more of her! And maybe I can out in a few good words in for you.
‘You’re a genius, Sooyoung!’
The bell rang and we settled down for double English.
Which was cancelled.
‘Yah, Soo! Do you want to play Truth Or Dare?'
‘Okay, Hyo!” So Soo is my new nickname. ‘Kyu, want to play?’
‘Nah. I’ll go and chat with Heechul about…something.’
Changmin rolled his eyes. ‘Heechul’s So Hee’s brother.’
‘Ah.’ I nodded in understanding.
[The following actually happened to me a few weeks ago.]
Changmin said, ‘Sooyoung, Truth Or Dare?’
‘Truth.’ I yawned.
‘Are you in love?’ Changmin smirked.
‘What?’ Suddenly, I felt really awake.
‘Are you?’ Hyoyeon demanded.
‘This will stay between us, right?’ I signed frustrated. ‘Yes.’
Hyoyeon squealed. ‘Who?’
‘Kyuhyun.’
‘I knew it! I knew it!’ Changmin jumped up and down, just like the kid he is. Hyoyeon nearly fainted.
I glared at them. ‘Hyo, Truth Or Dare?’
It went like that until…
‘Soo, Truth Or Dare?’
‘Dare.’
‘I dare you to tell Kyuhyun you’ve loved him for a long time.’
‘No.’
‘Do it, Soo!’ They laughed.
‘I can’t. He loves So Hee.’
‘SOO!’ Hyoyeon shouted. ‘Just say it!’
‘Fine!’ I called, ‘Kyu! I’ve loved you for a long time!’
‘Eh?’ He frowned.
‘I hit my head against the desk while Hyoyeon and Changmin explained it to him.
‘Soo!’
‘Yeah?’ I yelled without raising my head.
‘Me too.’ He grinned.
‘Aigoo…’ The whole screamed with laughter.
‘Admit it, you like it.’ Hyoyeon whispered.
‘Kind of.’ The bell for recess rang, and I immediately ran out.
