Recently I've been thinking a lot about my life recently I think its with this whole 20th birthday coming up on Monday. I'll be honest, this year has changed me and I'm not sure I like what I've become. I've learned that the world is not as simple as I thought it was, Capitalism in the model I supported doesn't work. I've learned that people ( Read more... )

I've got a birthday coming up in a week or so. I know the feeling. It's horrible. I feel so old and I'm having weird little pedantic attacks. Grrr. Hope it passes when we age! :D

Damn the black dog. He sucks. *hugs*. Just remember that it's him that's the enemy and not yourself! He often brings me nice little thoughts about whether people would cry if I was to die so I know how you feel. But don't worry, he always goes away. And the offer of meds still stands.

That said, I think self reflection is often a good thing... or at least reflection about where we are, who we are and where we're going. You just shouldn't do it in the presense of the dog... otherwise he'll tell you lotsa nasty stuff that isn't true :(

*more hugs*

The more we learn, the more cynical we become, but its also pretty fun to ignore all of it and plough more money into the Japanese economy by watching anime!

I've hit the 20th bump, and it ain't so bad. Its tough being older than most first years, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Yes, varsity and history 102 strips away all the happy places we once had. No one is special here. No one matters more than anyone else. And that adjustment is hard, and you've made it, believe it or not.

It is hard to have a particular belief when none of your friends share it. After all, I am a lone Dbz fan. You just happened to fall in with a group of agnostics/bitter atheists and its tough to deal with us. Just don't pay us too much mind and you'll be fine.

Don't ignore your good qualities when bad times come. Just bite them back!

I know what you mean. But, its really horrible how peverted people's sense of reality actually is. I have been doing a course called Culture, Identity and Globalization in Africa. It has really opened my eyes. I hate it the way something like AIDS is depicted in Time for instance, of having all these photo's of how the people are just before they die.
