Mmm Halo

I recently got an itch to play halo again (the original, honestly each subsequent game I found the campaigns to be less and less fun) and as it turns out the 360 can play xbox games.  I'm sure I knew this at some point but honestly...I haven't wanted to play an original xbox game in a long ass time ( Read more... )

Hah! The XBox 360 plays some XBox games. I didn't realize that, and when I got my 360, I ran out and bought a couple of the Splinter Cell games, based on the hilarious Bob and Steve skits from X-Play. Unfortunately, it turns out the only Splinter Cell game the 360 plays is the XBox version of the Splinter Cell game that was also released for the 360--Double Agent, which I had already played on the PS3. (And it frustrated the bejeezus out of me, so I had quit in a fit of anti-neutrality. You have to maintain this balance as a double agent--not doing too much for either side, yada yada, and I was ready to commit to one side or the other, damnit!) Anyway, that'll teach me to base my video game purchases on clever skits instead of an actual knowledge of the game and the system I own...

And really? FangxLight? Really? (Although, this could just be my bitterness speaking--I have a couple of missions I'm stuck on, so my hatred for the game and its cast of utter incompetents makes me biased...)

Hrm, good to know that it doesn't play all the xbox games...not that I was really planning on running out to buy a handful but still hehe. Actually I'm trying to resist the urge to reply DA:O and Xensoaga I-III...ugh there is NOT enough time in a day.

Anyway, sometimes you just have to buy a game because of random things, I bought the original metal gear solid because of the snake in a box jazz and I really liked 1 and 2...3 got annoying so I stopped playing it after 2 hours...I do plan to pick it up again eventually!

...fangxlight reached out and grabbed me, I didn't want to! I swears! I do -try- to stay away from pairings in my video games...but sometimes I just cant resist (BioWare, I'm looking at you).

Which missions are you having trouble with, I just went through and 5-starred all of them, if you want to hear my strategies I'd be willing to share.

To be honest, although both systems have the ability to play at least some of the previous-gen games, I don't find myself doing so very often. I'm replaying FFVII on the PS3 (my kids call it the "bad graphics game"), but other than that, I mostly play games designed for the 360 and the PS3. The exception looks to be Kingdom Hearts--I never played it, but my sons convinced me to give it a try, and it's only on PS2. I don't think I've played any original XBox games, since Splinter Cell didn't work. There's a list, by the way, of games that are and aren't 360 compatible. I keep it in mind only because if I do see something that interests me, I'm going to check this time ( ... )

Yeah, none of the systems have full backward compatibility, even the ps2 with original ps games had some hiccups. I'll be honest I think I have about half a dozen xbox games, and I totally bought my xbox for halo 1&2. However the 3rd gen ps2 I got for vixen a few years ago sits quite nicely in the living room (I -still- play a lot of ps2 games, like more than ps3/xbox 360). Only reason I really wanted to play them on the ps3 was to not have to juggle memory cards (I think I have 2 full ones and counting O.o ( ... )
