While I don't like to overmanipulate my work beyond recognition, I see nothing wrong with a few digital corrections and minor touches. There are plenty of "traditional" photographers who resort to airbrushing, stenciling, washes, and other interesting things that can be done in the darkroom! Hell, what do they think they are doing when they attach a filter to their lens? Hell, just picking up a camera and aiming it at a certain angle can make for some distortion or abstraction -- if that's not manipulation, then what is???
if it were for a show i wouldnt do too much to other than lighten darken sharpen but for LJ goodness this stuff is fun. if you forget to have fun you will burn out , a lot of new ideas comes from this sort of experimentation . i have been osterisized before for "screwing up" a picture ?? what?? i still have the original Digital negative i can always go back and treat it proper. Maybe its like sex Do you always want to do it missionary style? or mix it up a bit and find ways to spruce the goose!!
yes i do have stuff in the yahoo group but some of my stuff doesnt last cause the Jurgenator (affectionate name) tosses them cause they are a bit too hardcore so i try to put milder stuff up for him maybe someday somebody will like it enought to publish , although i havent even submitted anything to anyone yet , i shoot too much and not enough edit.. nice to meet you..
You have the same problem is me, not enough time to do everything. I was thinking in the regards of musicians who take time off after producing an album. We should shoot for a few months and then take time of to promote our work but I get to excited when a new idea comes to mind.
