Continuing from the last part...
The waves crashed against the shore. Dive teams were hitting the water in force, and pulling back chunks of debris. One of the piles was chunks of Apache helicopter. The other pile was chunks of Kitt. The day was growing overcast and cloudy, a trend that had started the previous night. The teams had worked throughout the night trying to recover everything. Mitch Buchannon and the Baywatch teams had lent two full shifts as they tried to recover Kitt and Danni’s body.
Michael stood, looking out over the site, the crying had stopped, he was attempting to look stoic, but it was a hard internal struggle. Mitch walked over to Michael. The shock of seeing a mirror image had long ago worn off, and both men wore the same sad face.
“Michael…they just found a body part that wasn’t Malachai.” Mitch spoke, his voice catching. “They are sending it through the scanners now.”
“She was my baby sister.” Michael choked out.
“I know.” Mitch nodded.
“I should have been the one out there.” Michael stated.
“You know full well that wouldn’t have worked. She may have been your baby sister, but she was the strongest most powerful, best agent ever. Wilton knew it would happen. You were the one to carry on the family line. She was the one to carry on the family legacy.” Mitch pointed out.
Michael nodded. Mitch went back to the outpost that had been set up with a genetic scanner for human remains along with other equipment from Knight Industries. Michael exhaled. He knew what the answer was going to be. Michael reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the envelope Danni had given him. He opened it, and pulled out a handful of paper with a letter on top.
Michael shut his eyes for a moment, as her face ran through his mind. He opened his eyes again and read the letter.
