I finally just watched "Sicko" in full. Now I am confused about the MM propaganda and reality. The UK is painted as having this great free system and the U.S. is portrayed as nightmare-city.
(France however is pitched as bad ass which I do tend to believe)
Having been to and through both systems, what are your thoughts? I'm genuinely curious as I seldom went to the doctor back home and feel increasingly out of touch with this stuff.

I think that, as with most opinion oriented "documentaries", he presented true facts in a manner that best supported his argument.
That movie was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to give the UK health care system a try. I found out what was always sort of present in the movie "Sicko" but never directly said. The UK is AWESOME if you are having an emergency. Day to day stuff is designed to keep you away from the doctor until it BECOMES an emergency.
In the US, people go to the doctor in exactly the opposite way. They go if they sneeze or feel the slightest ache and immediately want drugs for it. If they have healthcare, the system is all too glad to provide it. If they don't, they never see a doctor even IN an emergency.
If I were without insurance, I know which of the systems I'd prefer to be in. With insurance, I also know which system I'd prefer to be in.
OK, you win. I only stabbed myself in the palm of my non-predominant hand with kitchen shears. This is much...well, I don't want to say "better", so let's just call it much more bodacious. :-)
