I'm with you I think, I too really hate railroading, and would have felt uncomfortable being caught in the situation that you were, so I think you're right.
However the genre does actually feature inevitable defeat and triumphant return match as a staple, so I'd have been a lot happier with it in this situation.
I know I'm talking as one who'll be a non-combatant at the moot, but I think the Trannie monsters aren't that bad for a market fight and I'd be a bit surprised if they started attacking the other camps too much. Lots of faction plot doesn't. I think they're too overpowered as monsters and really a pretty rubbish idea, but hopefully the won't get in the way of the game too mcuh.
I don't expect them to get in the way so much, and I am quite looking forward to fighting against them (they aren't undead at least - well, not all of them) - I just envision a death toll higher than previous events.
I don't imagine that they'll spoil the game - just that there might be a quite nervous atmosphere given that they can pop out of nowhere...

A LRP shop that isn't in a field is, it must be admitted, too strange an idea to miss out on ;-)

Remind me which weekend it is? I only remember that it is at the end of September...
