Commuting sucks

Normally I don't mind the drive, especially since my car runs like a dream now, but when the road is empty at 1 am and your alone for 30+ mins when suddenly really depressong thoughts fly through your head, it really really REALLY sucks. At least when there's traffic I can curse out the idiot in front of me driving to slow, or the maniac that ( Read more... )

Agreed, commuting sucks.

I drive from New Jersey to friggin Long Island to go to school, and the time I spend in traffic is what some people spend at work in a given week. I feel ya.
Nothing like alone time with your thoughts to make you want to just go back to bed and pretend the day never happened :-/

This semester (amen) we don't have class, so right now I only go out there about once or twice a month. It's beautiful, really.
Next semester they squeezed everything into two days, so I figure I'll crash at a friend's house for a night each week, and only make one round trip a week. This is loads better than the five-days-per-week of the first two years, which made me a little insane. I spent, on average, between 5 to 5.5 hours a day in transit. That's too much. But I did it (and continue to) because it's a great program, and I can't move there. My choice, even though it sucks. And, it's getting a lot better, so I can't really complain.

I kinda know the feeling. When I started high school my family moved to jersey from NY. I wanted to go to HS in NY. I was 14 and commuting to brooklyn from jersey everyday ( stayed with my grandmother over the winter cause well NJ tranist runs like crap when there's snow on the ground ) It was killer but I did it for a year and am thankful for it too bad i couldn't continue with it. I made the choice and it was great experience (especially at 14, how many 14 yr olds have you ever heard of waking up at 5 am every morning to catch a train to be at school by 8) After that an hours car ride is nothing lol.
