Sonic the overacheiver

As i'm going through stacks of mismatched and otherwise indecernable DVD's. I came across i copy of sonic the hedgehog, and it got me a thinking, could sonic be a metaphor for the overachieving youth of today? We're all taught from a young age to reach for that brass ring. Sonic however says "fuck that" and goes for the gold. One is not enough
