Chapter 2

"Buffy..."

‘Mmm '

"Buffy...”

"Mmm punch"

“BUFFY!?! "

"Huh? What? What?"Buffy woke up, startled as she looked around in a daze to see Tora's figure standing on the left side of her bed.

"Oh finally it awakens."Tora said with her hands on her hips, no longer surprised at Buffy's sleeping habits. They hadn’t changed one bit.

"What do you want?"She said tiredly, while trying to rub the sleep away from her eyes.

"For a certain someone to move their large bottom from bed, freshen themselves up and come down for breakfast."

"Leave me be." Mumbled Buffy, giving a Tora an angry stare.

“No.” she gave a defiant one back at her.

"Leave me Tora!"Buffy rolled over facing away from Tora.

"No, not till you move from that spot, and open your eyes” She tries to get her up by nudging her but to no prevail.

"NO."Knowing how stubborn Buffy was, she decided to open the curtains.

"Fine then, let me help you out. Let's get some light in shall we?"

"No wait Oww!” She sat up and tried to stop Tora, only to get an eye full of painful light

"God Tora, do you live to torture me?"

"I get paid do to it, if you want to be angry with someone blame your mother."

"I can agree with you on that one at least."Finally giving up to Tora, she forced herself to not fall over and pass out in bed again.

"Buffy? Do you know what today is?"

"Yes, of course. What of it?"

"You're joking right?"

"No. I'm not; now tell me what I'm missing here." She said rolling her eyes.

"Well if your mother wasn't talking to a wall meaning you, she would have known you weren’t listening. Not one bit!"

"Get to the point." Buffy said covering her mouth as she yawned

"You do remember that that she told you that you and I are going to a ball in three days time. To Lunca mansion."

"What about it?"

"She told you three days ago."

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier!?!" Buffy said her eyes wide in realization.

"I thought you knew, Buffy." Tora her arms crossed wanting much to smack her mistress on the head, but knowing she would have to face her madams furious she decided against it.

"When do we leave?"

“In an hour, we won't arrive there till the late this evening if there are no problems along the way."

"An hour!! Oh god and I didn't get the chance to pack yet!" Moving like a mad woman she nearly fell out of bed, almost getting tangled up in her bed sheets.

"Clam down Buffy, I already took the liberty to pack them myself. All you have to do is get ready."Buffy nodded and watched her leave the room.

Buffy walked across the room and sat in front of her vanity looking in the oval mirror, four candles lit up her image as she looked at herself closely. Her hair was in disarray but she could still make out the soft curls that framed her womanly face.

"It was that dream again." It wasn't surprising that she'd had it again. She'd had it for eight years. Not all the time but, now and then the memories of the best days of her life would show themselves. She placed a hand on the center of her chest to feel a familiar lump there. She reached around to unhook the small necklace; she held the small ring in a loose grip as she stared at it.

The silver ring never lost its shine after all these years, since it was given to her as a gift. She wasn't the same when Jackie left that day; he gave it to her to remember him by. Her gift was a small golden locket that matched the color of her hair; she heard that it was good luck to carry that on the sea.

She cried for days sad that it was goodbye, and that she may never see his soul-full brown eyes again. Shaking out of that bad memory she placed the necklace back around her neck and continued to get dressed.

---------------------------

"Come on Tora where going to be late!" Yelled from inside the coach, Tora walked from behind the coach and climbed in.

"Shut it Buffy, besides you’re the one who told me to pack the 'other bag'."

"I thought that you would remember."

"Buffy when are we going to stop this, we're going to get in trouble with your mother; again.” Said Tora eyes full of concern, and fear if her madam found out her daughter’s plan.

"She’s not going to find out now just enjoy the long and bumpy trip we have.”

On the long trip they had Buffy and Tora busy themselves by play cards talking or sleeping, by the time they where an hour away from the Lunca mansion. Buffy told the coach driver to stop when he did Buffy climbed out then Tora after her bring the 'other bag' with them.

“Alright this seems to be far enough, did you bring it?"

"Yes I told you I did."

“Great give it here."Tora hands over the bag to her, Buffy opens it up and looks inside.

"Good everything is here. Now come on get undressed." Tora rolled her eyes but did as she was told and took off everything accept her undergarments, and then Buffy handed back to her the bag and turned around again. After some time Buffy got restless for Tora to get dressed.

"By god are you ready yet?"

"Yes, yes I'm done. What you think?"Buffy turned around to see a now completely different person.

"Wow my goodness, you look great Victoria or should I say Victor." Tora just chuckled and shook her head, her now slicked back hair moved barely as she did so. Her smile was nearly covered in a small mustache and a patch goatee right under her thin lips. She wore a simple but fitted black suit, white dress shirt, and leather boots.

"You look very handsome there Tora."

"Yes well ha." Tora coughed in her hand trying to cover her slight blush.

"But I do mean it, if you where a man I would marry you in a second."

"Let's just get this over with where going to be late, and besides even if I where a man you wouldn't marry me when you’re in love with someone else."With that Tora walked back to the coach leaving Buffy behind in her thoughts having her hand over her chest, with a smile on her face. Tora walked to the coach with her head low in thought, on painfully knowing that Buffy was in love with someone else made her heart ache.

------------------------

Tora climbed in the wagon waiting for her mistress so to continue on they’re journey. She stared off in front of her till she he came impatient of Buffy’s snail pace action ‘Always good to be fashionably late’ she say, It’s not a secret that Buffy likes to be the center of attention most of the time.

With her mistress still not back, Tora leans forward from her seat to look out the carriage window. Not foreseeing the gasp that escaped her throat of the sight before her. She felt still as her gaze followed every sway of the blue gown that hugged all the right places, soft white long gloves, her neck touched only by the necklace. Nothing mattered but elegance of the glowing angel approaching her.

“Tora can you open the door please, this bag is heavy.”

“Yes of course, you sure took your time miss.”

“Remember what I said, It’s always-“

“Good to be fashionably late, miss yes I do recall that.” Buffy took a few steps back for Tora to exit the carriage and hands her the bag while blowing out the candle in the other.

“Ladies first miss.” Tora said after putting away the bag and playfully giving a gentlemen blow with a charming smile.

“Why thank you kind sir.” Buffy says while she entered the carriage after giving a curtsy herself.

“Albert, you may continue onward.”

“Yes young miss.” The driver waited till he heard the knock on the ceiling to slap the reins on the horses and continued heading to they’re destination.
