There was only so much time to be spent before Alice got bored. She stayed at home mostly because things in Mayfield had a way of bursting with new nonsense, from parties to island hopping to stupid disputes with people who were countries. Alice was not interested in any of that. She wanted to get out of Mayfield, or at least get to the bottom of ( Read more... )

[Was walking by, but seeing her practicing he'd stop and lean on the fence watching.]

That's a cool ☠☠☠☠ knife you have there.

Alice paused and turned to see who'd addressed her in such a manner: and she recalled him instantly. This was that person that had drunkenly crashed into her house sometime ago, the one that usually made a fool of himself with all of the drinking.

"It ought to be," Alice replied crisply. "It is said to have the ability to cut through a rather thick skinned serpent. It came with a bit of a price though: I killed someone by mistake."

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. "Have YOU anything planned in fighting the Mayfield scourge yet?"

Yeah, dragons are rough but there are worse things out there.

[He frowned a bit at that last question.]

I don't think fighting's going to do it, but if it does come to a fight I'll just kick it's ☠☠☠☠.

"I didn't say it was a dragon," Alice replied. "In fact, there is probably no other animal like the one it can cut through. But I suppose in your world you never heard of a Jabberwock."

Alice turned to him, hands on her hips. "That would sound much more effective coming from you if you weren't drunk most of the time."

[Passing by, she can't help but stop and stare at the knife. Weapons are always a good distraction!]

...you seem well-practiced with that blade.

Alice gave a forward thrust, then let out a grunt as she embedded the hilt if the blade into the tree, shaking it rather sharply. She then removed the blade from the tree, noticing the person who'd just spoken.

"I ought: it was necessary to be this skilled in my world," she said. "It was the first weapon I ever got."

...A blade is the weapon that takes the most skill to use, don't you think?

"A little harder than the explosives, actually," Alice remarked. She reared back and neatly beheaded the tree. "But worth it in spades."

**Akiha sips some tea from the window before she eventually gets up and calls from the doorway.**

Someone might think you're planning something foul.

Alice looked up from what she was doing at the voice, and gave her daughter a grin.

"They can think what they like," Alice replied. "If I have to be here not of my own will, I refuse to be idle. Besides, after what I went through to get this particular thing, I believe I earned it.

She sheathed the blade. "Mind if have a bit of tea with you?"

Of course you're free to do as you like. But, I just recommend you do that in the back yard before someone reports possible criminal intent. I doubt women swinging swords in their front yard was common in this era.

**Akiha steps out of the door way, back into the house.** Of couse. It's still hot.

"I'm not one for this era in the first place," Alice replied. "Its ugly and stupid...reminds me a bit too much of back home, really. Besides, I'm not hurting anyone."

But she would listen, actually. It was exactly the sort of advice she might give to someone else if they were swinging their weapons out in public.

She walked over to Akiha. "Thank you. I could never say no to a bit of tea."

I couldn't make this ☠☠☠☠ up if I tried.

Seriously, he gave koala's razor teeth and dropped them from an airship...

What madness are you talking about? Razor's teeth? Airship?

Yeah, air ships. They use rockets to stay in the air or something. I don't know, I just know their engine blocks are pretty ☠☠☠☠ solid.

They gave koala ☠☠☠☠ sharp teeth. They're weird like that.
