A Warlock’s Christmas Tale - Part One

Dec 05, 2004 14:41

Christmas shopping is some I hate with a fiery vengeance. The worst things are these shops that spring up out of nowhere selling discounted Christmas "goods" - I say goods most of it just junk. Cheap cards, tinsel that looks like it was once kitchen foil that someone had run through the office paper shedder and wrapping paper that even the homeless ( Read more... )

The Paul McCartney comments? Couldn't be truer. Oh, that song is bad.

"Are you the police?" LOL ( ... )

I fear for the poor little kitty. A lump of coal or a lump of another kind…
Me thinks that you’ve been hanging ‘round with us wicked type people too much and it’s beginning to rub off on you.

Haven’t heard of Black Peter although he does sound an interesting chap and it explains all that coal I used to get as a little un’. BTW, there’s no truth to the rumour that the Government under Margaret Thatcher closed down so many pits in Britain as she was using the stockpile that I had accumulated instead.

Am I the police?

*adopts best Judge Dredd impression * "I am the Law"

But you know what I do....

Is there some dark secret that you're 'fraid I'll uncover....a skeleton lurking in some long forgotten closet?

Perhaps if I flashed my F.B.I. badge I could've gotten a discount.

We have those shops in our mall!

Well, they aren't exactly "shops" - they're more like "retail islands". And they don't sell wrapping paper and tinsel - they sell little gifty items. And we don't have them this year - it seems the Mall Nazis put a stop to them. So actually...

...we have nothing like that here. *g*

Good luck with that tree. It's nice to have a decorative holiday item that can double as a coat-rack when company comes. *g*

Retail Therapy darkest_magicks December 9 2004, 10:47:26 UTC
I've decided to let teddy decorate the tree this year as I'd rather let him reek havoc on that than anything else. I got him a small present of "Charmed" seasons 3,4 and 5 on DVD and he also wants the "Phoebe" action collectable. Don't think I'll get him that though as I don't like the way they treat warlocks on the show.

Those little shops are okay for little nick-knacks as stocking fillers but I wouldn't trust them for anything more than that. They disappear after Christmas, which is more than can be said for the turkey leftovers.

Our shops appeared suddenly - as if by magic. Are you trying to lure me into an indiscretion? Are you the law? :D My favorite one isn't back, though. It was a glass-blower who worked while you watched. My older daughter used to sell for him every year until recently. The t-shirt shop is also missing. They had great items from "The Mountain" with faeries and suchlike. Not that I can afford their prices, but still...

So what happened to Charmed seasons 1 and 2? Oh, go ahead! Get Teddy the Phoebe doll! Then you can buy a warlock figure and have him win all their fights. My brothers used to make their G.I. Joes beat up my Barbie all the time!

Lucky teddy finally gets a tree huh? hehe. Loved that story and can't wait to tell our nurses at work that joke- very cute. Got our tree up finally also, and the first thing our bird did was try to fly into it and nest. silly boy. The other one just sat on his cage and chirped at him.. but I am sure he was saying bad things in chirps cuz when sunny went back to the playtoys he bit Moonie really hard. Bad boys.

Shopping- oh man I still need to do that yet...

Charlie, my beloved chinchilla, attacked a Christmas tree once. He sort of "bounced" at it and knocked it down. Then he landed on the poor little angle's head than had fallen of the top and put a dent in it.
I can only assume that he thought it was a fairy and wanted to protect me, knowing that I have an allergy to fairy dust.

LOL at one of your birds trying to nest in the Christmas tree. You have nurses where you work? Is it some sort of hospital then or medical centre?

hehehe, Chilly (our chincilla) one year just looked at our tree and ran away and hid. We had to sell a few months back cuz of my daughter and I were having bad reactions to the fur and dust. Really miss that little guy. :( but we have the birds now and they are fun.

I work in a rest home and rehab. center for seniors. We have a really great nursing staff, but the adminstators are really suckie. I am the receptionist/ Accounts Payable and love my job but it just isn't working out so I will be looking for a new one after the first of the year. I love the residents there- they are such a blast.

I'm coming back to add - I want to know what the story is behind the art in your LJ. It's just one of those things that tells a story and I'm wondering if there is one.

The story behind the story darkest_magicks December 7 2004, 21:05:43 UTC
I honestly wish I could tell you if indeed there was a story behind the artwork. I can’t even remember where I got it. I’ll see if I can find it again then I may be able to answer your question or point you in the right direction.

The only reason I used it, is because it’s darker (darker in colour that is, not necessarily in subject matter) so the text should be easier to read and I liked the rose.

I think it’s just some poor girl who is doing her English literature homework, which just happens to be “Hamlet”. As you can see, she is obviously re-enacting the famous “Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio; a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy” scene.

The wall paper was a free download from this site http://www.basehead.org/wallpapers/fantasy.php?page=p1 and it's called dreamtide, you can find it on page 3.

Dreamtide sound familiar but I don’t know if it some sort of fantasy series that this wallpaper my be a depiction of a scene from.

Thanks for looking it up *s* I wasn't able to find out anything more about it but that's ok. I can make up my own story, right?
