A Warlock's Wintry Tale

Sep 09, 2005 19:13

Having completed the second of the three courses that I'm doing this year I've been taking things easy. In fact I've been so lazy that next to me a sloth would look like a caffeine fuelled hyperactive maniac. So, inspired by my muse the charming and delightful Ms. Marks, I ventured once more to the capital of this green and pleasant land - London ( Read more... )

The photographs brought tears to my eyes. I can't believe you were there, I mean, I can but....well you know. The Globe...

It was great to hear about all the other things while you were inappropriately site seeing. Kings Cross! (Yay!) If I was with you we very well may have ended up inappropriately site seeing for an additional forty five minutes. We are so directionally challenged.

Re: The "Elizabethan Moshpit:" the patrons made to stand in this area were refered to as "The Groundlings." Sorry, you know I have to throw in some historical junk.

The house musicians entertained the crowd with Elizabethan standards and a unique cover version of Nirvana's "In Bloom"

OHMYSANDRAREALLY!????

(okay, I made the last one up).

Aww... :(

I'm often amazed how actors remember all those lines, especially as in Elizabethan times it appears that people use ten words to our one. This I think may have lead to such a low age for mortality. People's lungs were worn out from having to take such deep breaths for the long sentences and ( ... )

Wow, you deserve a medal or something for reading all that. I actually spread it over three days and I think I lost the plot somewhere along the way.

Well if you were with me I’d at least have some pleasant company to share the inappropriate sightseeing with. For some strange reason I just couldn't negotiate Winchester Square. I think that the proximity of Southwark Cathedral and possibly the old Clink prison had something to do with it - both of them scary places for someone like me.

Due to fire regulations those poor "Groundlings" had to stand for the entire performance. Luckily it didn’t rain but there was a spot of light drizzle at one point.

I did pick up a one or two things that I think you may like and I’ll get them off to you at the weekend.

Any credit for mirth, humour or even intelligence should go to that doyenne of cultural enlightenment and my muse; Ms. Marks.

BTW, like the gif - from Antony and Cleopatra isn't it? When I was at school (many moons ago now) I actually learnt that quote and can still remember it I ( ... )

A medal is quite undeserved, as I said, it felt much more like a gift for me.

Yes, the groundlings always are made to stand. As wonderful as the performances are I never fancied standing for a four hour show.

Ms. Marks, nice as she is, is also undeserving of credits. That, my dear warlock, is all you . *s*

Ahh, someone quoting Shakespeare, from memory, an excellent way to begin my day *s* You were letter perfect in your recollection and yes, it was, indeed, Anthony and Cleopatra .

Panther, with the help of Sandra Williamson, did consume Teddy's gift. *sigh* Apologies to Teddy.

This is a very cool entry! I especially liked the "captions" my arrow revealed when moving over the pictures. :D

Did you know today is apparently National Teddy Bear Day or something here? We have holidays for everything...

Someone else who deserves a medal for wading through this post.
The "captions" as you call them are very easy to do it’s just the “alt” attribute that forms part of the IMG tag. An example:-

I love your posts - no need for medals. :) I must admit I had some difficulty following the story of The Winter's Tale. I've never read that play, and Shakespeare can be challenging even if you are familiar with the material.

Thanks for the caption tip! If we ever get a digital camera, I'll keep that in mind. Implying that I would then start posting pictures - and could amuse myself with such knowledge. :)

"I’ve almost finished "Shards of Honor" and I’ll be sending you an email about my thoughts on it pretty soon."

Yay! And again, YAY! Both for the reading of the book, and the writing of the e-mail. I'll look forward to it. :)

Tell Teddy I'm sorry I forgot to send him a card, and please give him a hug for me, okay?
Maybe I'll send him some Screaming Yellow Zonkers......

Yes, I did receive your text messages. Needless to say they put a big smile upon my face.

I'm not at all surprised that LJ eats people's posts when you consider that they have a goat as their mascot. I wonder if he's related to the horned, cloven hoofed beast that frequents the Magicbox?

I am glad you got them. I am never sure if its going to work or not.

It is entirely possible that they are related. Pesky things.
