I can't believe I'm haunted by Asano Taeko even when I'm not watching her.

Seven eps into IS and I almost don't want to watch anymore, because it's becoming increasingly clear that my OTP isn't the OTP and WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME.

i'm not watching this drama but maybe it's one of those instances where the protagonist thinks he likes someone but at the last moment he/she realizes that the one they truly love is someone else?

so in this case, the one he really likes is the girl, not the soccer dude. there's still hope?

If that happens I will take back every grumpy word I've ever said about this drama. *crosses fingers*

Okay so I still want to watch this but I'll wait to see how the OTP plays out. I don't want to start yet another story where I might be completely disappointed by the ending.

By the way have you read After School Nightmare? Because it had the exact same issue with the main intersex character going back and forth on whether he was a boy or girl depending on who he was attracted to. I really wanted someone to introduce him to the concept of bisexuality too. Is bi visibility just really really low in Japan? X_x

You'd think after Asano Taeko I would've learned my lesson about getting invested in genderqueer characters in dramaland. D: There's just something about femslash (even straight femslash) that causes me to lose all brain function besides "EEEEEEEEEEEE!"

That name sounds familiar, have you recced it before?

*throws up hands* APPARENTLY. Though I guess it's pretty low everywhere unless your name is Jack Harkness.

Probably not, I've got pretty mixed feelings on the manga right now and I'm waiting on the final volume to see whether I'd recommend it or not. Like it has one legitimately fantastic character arc (Kureha is my forever girl ♥_♥ I'll always be glad I read the series for her) but I kind of go back on forth on the protagonist and the male option in the love triangle. It's been licensed for a few years now though so you probably heard of it somewhere.

Speaking of, have you been watching Torchwood: Miracle Day? =D I've been saving it for after I watch season 2 but I'm hearing good things!

I could swear someone recced it to me. Maybe I'm just getting it confused with jrock bands. XD It does sound interesting, though, if problematic.

I watched the first ep! Which was great. But I'm saving the rest because (summary spoilers? I don't know how much you know) Jack becomes mortal and the thought makes me TOTALLY ANXIOUS and I refuse to watch Miracle Day until I know for a fact he comes out of it alive. XD

GOD YES. I KEEP EXPECTING MIWA TO BE LIKE "SORRY REON, BUT YOU'RE NOT MY TYPE" AND REON WOULD BE ALL "WHO IS YOUR TYPE" BUT BEFORE HE CAN FINISH HIS SENTANCE MIWA IS ALREADY STARING LONGINGLY AT HARU AGAIN. AND THE DAMN SOCCER BOY. WHAT. I WAS EXPECTING HIM TO HAVE A BIT MORE STORY BY NOW. WHYYY.

I WANT REON TO LEARN ABOUT MIWA. I CAN JUST PICTURE IT. MIWA WOULD BE ALL ANGSTY AND MELODRAMATIC LIKE "I'M NOT A NORMAL PERSON! I'M..... IS!!!" AND REON WOULD JUST BE LIKE "...........OKAY. SO, HEY! I PLANNED US A PICNIC! :D :D :D"

...I kinda like football guy. Granted he's pretty clueless about things but for some weird reason i went through a phase of thinking maybe he was IS too because 1. he REALLY likes cooking 2. there was that weird ass speech with his dad about being 'manly' or not being weak or something 3. there's that picture of a boy and girl (where's the girl gone?) 4. he REALLY likes kids (he got waaaaay happy when he saw that kid in the supermarket) 5. he's just very... genki in a girly way maybe? amd 6. we've had a boy who's becoming femimine and vice versa, who's to say there can't be IS who are brought up looking masculine who find themselves more feminine? Does that even make sense ( ... )

...huh, I never even thought of soccer boy being IS.

...

I have to admit that would make him a lot more interesting.

Reon. He's such an adorable thing and you know that if he found out about Miwa's IS he'd still be into her.

OMG YES. I was just saying this upthread, I'm too into Haru/Miwa to ship her with Reon, but I still think it's REALLY FRIGGING ADORABLE that he tries. *____* I can't wait until he finds out about her IS (it must happen!) because you know it would matter to him not at all. And having his acceptance could do wonders for Miwa's trust issues.

WHAT IS KINGYO CLUB ABOUT? DOES REON HAVE A GOOD ROLE?

I tried Tempest and didn't like it. :/

There's definitely a story behind Ibuki because there wouldn't have been such an emphasis (maybe not as much as Haru's and Miwa's but it's there all the same - have we seen anything about Reon's family? No.) on his relationship with his dad. I'm kinda wondering if i should just spoil myself with episode 8 now lol.

The way Miwa is going she's gonna blurt it out and he'll be all, O_______________O '...Do you still wanna go get ice cream ( ... )

Wait... 7, so you've seen THE CONFESSION?! And what happens after made me want to punch Haru in the face. No thought at all about Miwa, just boring nonsense about boring soccer boy WHO LIKES BABIES.

Haru and Soccer Boy are totally gay for each other... if Miwa chan wasn't involved, I'd think they were cute.

His "dates" involve taking Haru to play baseball and to video game arcades... heh.

I still can't believe that they won't hook up Miwa and Haru - THEY WAS HAND HOLDING AND DRAGGING! That equals true love by any reasonable J-drama standard.

In short, MIWA CHAN ILU!

YES YES YES OMG!!! *________* I just didn't want to spoil it, lol. BUT HER FACE! HARU TRYING TO CONVINCE HER NOT TO HAVE THE SURGERY! MY HEART.

I honestly don't get understand how they're not the OTP. Like, if Miwa was meant all along to be the unrequited secondary chick, why did they spend so much time developing her and Haru's friendship? SOCCER BOY WASN'T EVEN IN THE RUNNING UNTIL LIKE. EP THREE.

Wait, what about Haru made you angry?

When Miwa made that huge confession about DAISUKI to Haru and then Haru didn't even reflect on it for a second because she was busy pining over Soccer Dude. I was like, "REALLY?!" This girl just poured her heart out to you and you're ignoring it?

But Haru is so dudely, which extends to feelings-blindness, too, I'm assuming.

I'm seriously curious to see who the ultimate OTP is because even in the credits it's Haru+Miwa, so... yeah.

I took his reaction as non-surprise. I mean, he was clearly caught off-guard, confessions are a big deal, but there was no stunned "wait, Miwa likes me?" I think he was already aware of her feelings BECAUSE HE'S HARBORING HIS OWN CONFLICTED ONES on some level.
