We're in Warwick and occasionally during winter storms the mountain between GWL and Tuxedo has been shut down. There is another way around going through NJ, so you might want to learn it just to be safe.

Aha, thanks Brian. Definitely good to know. Valuable info since we're moving between the Winter/Spring seasons. How's the snow removal in the area when it's not a bad storm? Any idea?

During a moderate or light snowfall the road gets cleaned fairly quick. The mountain can have some ice during the day and night but otherwise it's usually a pretty easy ride. There can be some heavy traffic getting onto the thruway by sloatsburg during the early morning commute but it's not too bad. Otherwise I can't really think of too much that you'd need to know, but if I think of something I'll be sure to let you know.

electric heating is a con. Its very expensive. Gas or oil or even wood is better than electricity. an hour a commute will really grate on ones nerves.
