At the salon, we have a free-standing shelf/cabinet thing that holds our nail polishes. Maile got passes in the mail, so her, me, Jessie, and Heather got to see an advance (and free!) screening! It was fucking hilarious, I laughed my ass off - and best of all, even though it was a little heartwarming, it stayed funny, it didn't abandon that for a "message" or whatnot. Five years ago today, one of my favorite musicians, Elliott Smith, died by suicide. The image of the "tortured artist" bothers me - no one should feel suicide is there only option, and no one should be in so much pain for their art.
