Do I see a cultural clash here? Justin being chivalric and Pansy taking this as a rejection? Could someone please hand Justin a guide about Pureblood courting rituals so he can give Pansy some clear signals she does understand?
They both have become too dear to me by your vivid and sensitive description to let them stumble around for several more chapters.

It is a rejection, but not quite the way Pansy takes it to be: part of it comes from culture clash, part of it is Justin's own trauma/damage rearing its ugly head, and a bigger (as yet unseen) part of it is interference from Justin's friends. There's a lot of genuine affection between these two that's grown on both sides, but we're still only a year/year and a half out from the end of the war; there's still a lot of issues to work through and rebuilding that needs to be done.
