Xander has been working alongside Spike for over a year when the epiphany hits. It's not a big one, as epiphanies go - and boy, does he know from epiphanies - but it still stops him in his tracks and makes him blink.
Whenever he's around Angel, he always has the same immediate, bone-deep reaction of 'Vampire. Evil. Kill it. KILL IT!' which then morphs straight into 'Oh, right, Angel. Skeevy old 'good' vampire perving on schoolgirls - okay, schoolgirl... and of the Slayer persuasion, but still! - Do. Not. Want. Kill it!'
With Spike? Not so much.
Oh, maybe in the beginning, he was all 'Vampire! Kill! KILL!' But then stuff happened. You haven't lost your touch! Epiph now, question later is pure Xander and the epiphany is right on target. I'm watching Buffy right now on Logo and was pretty much just thinking the same thing about Spike. For a dead guy, he really lives.

Xander is quite definite in his opinions of the two main vampires in his life. *g*

Xander babble never gets old. It's so much fun to write, though keeping him on track can be a trial. ;)

Slipping back into Xandery headspace was surprisingly easy. He can epiph with the best of them. *g*
Spike was the reason I got hooked on the show because he so obviously loved life, even as he took it. ♥ Spike.
