still alive, more or less; why Aragorn is (and isn't) sexy

Real life sucks. Especially in the winter when you cannot sail. I was going to rant about various things that have kept me in LJ exile, but now that I've written the above few sentences, I think that pretty much says it all, and the details would only be boring. But I'm back, and I missed you guys, much! It will take me a little while to get caught ( Read more... )

You're back! And better than ever!

Agree with on Aragorn-becoming is always sexy, but once you meet that pinnacle...what is there left to say?

Except for Theoden, who is not sexy but damn compelling- he lost power, and his son, and must somehow summon up spirit to lead a fight against evil. I mean, whoa.

What you need for a story is movement and change

Ding!

And, welcome back. We all missed you. Whole piles of kerfuffles and smut in your absence - you'll never catch up, mwah ha ha.

It's become clear to me that I never will catch up! makesmewannadie is right, skip=300 is about two days' worth. Gak. Y'all can keep the kerfuffles, but the smut I'm going to have to hunt down!

BTW, after you hinted to me, I did manage to guess your SS/HP smutmas fic correctly, as well as amanuensis's first one. But I was dead wrong on who wrote my gift!

BTW #2, my husband loves it when you use that icon. Because it's a sailboat. Yeah. That's it. *ggg*

I practically spit tea all over my monitor in my excitement to agree with you over Aragorn's coronation. I find Aragorn the Ranger and his "I was raised by the elves" vibe intensely compelling; the king in exile, the man running from his destiny, yes, yes, this is all so interesting. Even while he fights his way to Gondor and he gives rousing speeches - consuming. And then when it comes to that moment that he fulfills his destiny and is crowned king - I'm just not as interested any more ( ... )

Okay, but... dejla January 12 2004, 15:31:29 UTC
Stephen King said that eventually you have to take off the scary mask and go "Booga-booga" -- and I suppose that explains some of the problems of the horror genre. Nothing is quite so horrible once it's seen; the terrors you can imagine are worse than any known terror ( ... )

It's nice to see you again. Or not, but you know what I mean.
