LOTR filter

Jan 18, 2004 21:39

OK, I am setting up an LOTR filter, because after watching the 2 extended movies and acquiring a brand new set of the books, which is now in my hot little hands, I think I have some stuff to say. Especially about Faramir, but yes, everything else too. :) I will still subject all of you to any posts that are multifandom/ comparative, but the ( Read more... )

What perfect timing! I've just jumped on the LOTR bandwagon and am dying to hear what you've got to say about Faramir.

You do seem taken with Faramir. Should I tell you I saw him in person just before Christmas?

The actor who plays him, or someone who meets your personal visualization/description of the guy? How very very cool! Tell me about it?

It's Faramir-the-character I'm entranced with most of all, and yes, I am quite taken. *grins* The actor's ever so appealing, but it's fictional characters themselves who get to me way deep down. The actor (i cannot recall his name, because I am clueless - is it Wareham, maybe?) has looks that are not aligned with the book description, but he really works well in the movie, so there are kind of two Faramirs in my head now. Eeep.

It was, David Wenham (I will never forget his name as my mother has had a huge crush on him ever since we saw him on stage a few years ago), the actor who plays him. Anyway, there's little to tell he wandered into the Cafe where we were having lunch. We often see celebs; it's just one of those places, so there weren't any screaming fangirls (of course he's lucky my mother wasn't there.)

I actually have very little in the way of personal vizualisation for the human characters in LOTR, despite the number of times I have read it. I thought Viggio was a perfect Aragorn but it was more because of his manner than his physical appearance.

Still, I've always liked Faramir, so I wasn't entirely happy with his characterisaton in TTT, although I was somewhat mollified by the extended version.

It isn't true that HP is my first and only love; I'm a multifandom type by nature, and I'd be happy to see posts comparing LotR to other books/movies/fandoms. LotR on its own doesn't do much for me, is all.

Thanks for that! I understand, there are a lot of fandoms I like to hear about as comparisons, but not necessarily the details of just that one. I am a compar and contrast creature by nature, so you 'll see some LOTR rambling. *grins at your Gollum*

Hee! I can't very well log in right now, but please add me (rane_ab) to the list. Though I'm more interested in the hobbits than in Faramir to be honest, but oh ell, I like Faramir, too. :-)

Cheers,
Rane.

Done. Won't just be Faramir, I promise, though I suspect he'll get to be Topic #1 on the list. *g*
