I recently discovered that my Facebook profile has an "Honesty Box", when this arrived I'll never know but regardless I went surfing through it, most of it is rather nice pleasant things that do bear repeating as they're not important. One did catch my eye, and I was a bit surprised, it read

While I don't know you super well, I'd say in a lot of ways yes. It's really hard to tell what's tongue-in-cheek with you, and you have a scathing sarcasm that I believe is meant to come off as wit but sometimes comes off as pompousness. However, I don't know if I'm a good judge because I've heard the same kind of words used to describe myself.

While I don't think you ARE a self-righteous jackass you do come off that way. You seem to acknowledge it quite a lot in this LJ aswell. I figured you let this roll off your back by now.

It certainly hasn't struck any sort of blow to my self-esteem really.

I was just taken aback, more perplexed by the statement than actually upset.
The not looking for hugs statement was meant to indicate that I'm not upset.

What I was trying to say is I don't believe you can actually be confused, perplexed, etc. by this. You mention it too much for me to believe it's caught you off guard. Unless you have the memory of a goldfish. Part of what makes this impression I think is your eagerness to say "it didn't hurt me!" when I never implied that it did. I'm not trying to be mean, it's just the impression I got was that you get comments like this all the time.
