One year, Brad and I took a tour of Eastern Canada for vacation, and every place we went was a mosquito haven - my nice, Anne-of-Green-Gables-nostalgia memories of Prince Edward Island are completely overwritten by a memory of the two of us taking turns being the person in front on the trail so the person in back could swat mosquitos off the person in front. Blergh.

On the plus side, we saw a bog that was so, er, boggy that moose regularly sank in and drowned. We had to walk on a boardwalk so as not to get sucked in, and the edges were covered in carnivorous pitcher plants. Pretty cool.

To be fair to PEI, the place that *I* remember having to take turns swatting skeeters off each other was at Fundy National Park in New Brusnwick, not in PEI. But yeah, those skeeters sure did suck. (Hmm, literally AND figuratively...)

Summer 2004, right after Kendell graduated from MIT.

Oddly, I didn't blog about it in my usual excruciating detail, maybe because I'd still only been blogging for less than a year at that point. This was the only entry I made on it.
