On balancing the budget

Its obvious that the US seems to have a problem with spending more than it takes in.  And a lot of times, rather than taxing necessities, which hits the poor more than the rich, we resort to taxing the luxuries, which hits the rich more, and makes them angry and vote for republicans who seem more inclined to continue borrowing from China.

I like they way you phrased your cut text. Instead of making it sound like people should avoid it if they are offended by your statement that it is not real, it sounded like people are outraged by this simple truth. Like, "Oh! I want it to be real but I acknowledge it is not and that makes me the angry!" Not "I believe it is real and Matt says it is not and that makes me angry!"

It amused me.

You know, I actually really like this - I mean, so much of it is placebo effect anyway, and since the placebo effect is generally increased by it costing more, taxing stuff like homeopathy would (a) make folks that'd get any success out of it feel even better and (b) make the gov't money. And anyone not willing to spend the extra cash doesn't believe in it enough to get the magic 'my subconscious is making me better' effect anyway.
