Humour

I love this because it's funny and the voice of reason at the same time.

Anyway, enjoy!

NB: Please don't think that I'm picking on the US because of this - we have the same sort of climate change deniers over here as well. Some deny for self interest, some out of sheer bloody-mindedness, some because of how the issue is represented by media (as ( Read more... )

Great clip.
Uses comedy with common sense and facts to bring the truth.
Thankyou.

You're very welcome! I think he, along with Jon Stewart are two of the better political satirists around at the moment. Not only are they funny, but they really get to the heart of an issue, I find. I wish we had the like of them over here. We've had some good ones in the past, but we don't have any up to their standard at the moment.

There was loads of satire on him before and just after the election but now that some of the government's policies are really hitting home, people are fast losing their sense of humour about it all. It's a wonder I don't have whiplash from constantly shaking my head in despair that people actually voted them in, even those that stood to suffer the most from his party's policies.

The short memories, gullibility, short sightedness and/or mental laziness people can be capable of still disappoints me at times.

I'm still hoping for a double dissolution when the budget hits the senate, but it most probably won't happen. Fingers crossed for us!

John Oliver did a rather good montage of Abbott if you're interested:

Yes, he is! I think both he and Jon Stewart are two of the better presenters who manage to convey an issue in a way that's interesting, understandable, truthful and, as an added bonus, inject humour like a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down (sorry, channelled Mary Poppins for a moment there).

We've had some good political satirists here at times, but the well seemed to run dry for a while. We have a couple that are okay at the moment, but not up to JS and JO's standards.
