Why do so many people write things under a veil of anonymity?

What are you all trying to hide?

Because it seems safer to them, I guess.

What is so dangerous about their opinions? Or are they ashamed of something?

I don't know. I think they're afraid someone's going to get mad at them.

That's no way to live. People aren't always going to agree but that doesn't mean you have to pretend you like each other.

Are you an idiot and seriously don't get it or are you just tryin' to make a point about how people oughtta be open and honest?

That strange writing appeared on a page in my book-- [He means the Gossip Girl meme. He doesn't understand what it's for.] --and there are so many anonymous people speaking there. I wonder why they don't want anyone to know what they think.

I do think people should be more open and honest.

'cause some people don't take it to heart as much when they're insulted by someone they know. They can think "That's just him." But if you do it anonymously, people think that's what the general public thinks, y'know? And you don't hafta worry about being polite or saying the right thing. Or you can even anonymously insult someone, then not so anonymously go to their rescue and look like a hero or whatever. Or there's some stuff you just wanna get out, but you don't wanna be responsible for it, so people go anonymous for that, too. Common sense stuff.

It could be just one anonymous person talking to themselves, trying to sway opinions a certain way.

Or provoke things.

It makes things that can be hard to say easier.

Why can you not just say it directly? Are these things so bad to say?

Personally I'm impressed with how vicious and mean-spirited they're all being.

Are they so afraid of what others will think of their true thoughts?

And why are you anonymous yourself?

Human nature's a bugger, isn't it?

[And yes, completely ignoring the second question.]

Humans are generally cowardly and thinking only to save their own skin, yes.

Like yourself.

You mean aside from looking stupid as hell? I dunno, some people just don't want to be known for asking or saying certain things.

They must worry too much about what others think of them.

I don't give a shit, but I guess they do.

That is an unpleasant image.
