When he acts shy - Say I Love You.
Yamamoto continued to breathe with a difficulty. The right side of his stomach has been cleanly sliced and blood gushed out of it steadily, giving a sickening splat on the floor tile he was sprawled at. The blood on his temple has long dried and bruises started stinging before he was even aware of it. He wasn’t sure if this is his end, he actually doesn’t care anyway. There’re already lots of time he found himself in this same predicament, if not graver. But every time he’s in a pinch, his gut feel tells him that he’ll be alright.
He’ll come, his calm mind always assured him.
He’s always around.
The moment Yamamoto opened his eyes he’s still sitting at the same spot he was sprawled at, only now he’s in an upright position. And the first thing he saw was Hibari’s unruly hair. As if by cue, Hibari looked up and met Yamamoto’s gaze and pulled away from him. Yamamoto noticed the make-shift bandages on his right side and his eyes immediately darted towards Hibari’s torn prefect jacket. The said man had his back faced Yamamoto, sitting still and silent.
“Thanks,” Yamamoto gave a half-hearted laugh to lighten up the atmosphere. He reached out and touched Hibari’s hand.
“Really, thank you Hibari,” he whispered, squeezing Hibari’s hand.
No sooner than touching Hibari’s hand, Yamamoto find his neck pressed heavily against HIbari’s tonfa.
“Quiet, Yamamoto Takeshi,” Hibari’s usual irritated gaze wasn’t directed at him but at the floor.
“Ne, Hibari,” Yamamoto tried to look serious despite the smile threatening to come out.
“What,” Hibari mouthed looking up and meeting Yamamoto’s gaze.
“I love you.”
And Yamamoto felt a bone-crushing blow on his gut after that.
But not before seeing a tinge of red in Hibari’s cheeks.
When he runs from you - Chase him.
Clouds take different forms. Sometimes they look wispy and feathery-looking, sometimes grainy-looking. Sometimes they look like thin sheets, other times they look like big white cotton balls. But no matter what form they take, all of those have one thing in common.
It cannot be contained.
It cannot remain in one place.
Just like the Cloud Guardian.
Yamamoto was fully aware of that. It still amazes him how accurate the rings chose each one of the guardians. He wasn’t really the one to complain why Hibari’s like that-so far and detached. Even in the face of danger, the guy would fight alone and proud.
He’s always emitting an aura that no one could and should touch him.
But that’s alright with Yamamoto.
He’s always fond of cloud-watching anyway.
When he puts his face near yours - Kiss him.
It was a bold and stupid move to even think of inviting Hibari Kyouya for a sparring session in one of the spare rooms on their underground base. Yamamoto Takeshi was itching to practice because it seemed that he was the only one who wasn’t doing anything at all. He couldn’t find the baby to ask why, Tsuna and Gokudera both have been preoccupied with their own training and Sasagawa Ryohei has gone off jogging every early morning.
So such was the coincidence when he saw Hibari walking aimlessly, stifling a yawn with the back of his hand.
“Yo!” Yamamoto greeted with a radiant smile. Hibari merely glanced at him, never stopping at his pace.
“Hey, Hibari I’m talking to you,” Yamamoto chuckled as he turned slightly to follow Hibari.
“What do you want Yamamoto Takeshi?” a monotonous reply came, his back still facing Yamamoto.
“Do you want to spar? We could use the-”
In one swift motion, Hibari’s tonfa appeared, eager for some blood. Their faces were so close apart that they’re almost sharing breath.
“Haha, no need to be violent Hiba-”
“What will I get if I agree?” Hibari asked quietly, his eyes full of innocent curiosity. The tonfa pulled away a little and Yamamoto had to tear his eyes away from the small man to think for a moment.
“Well…you can bite me to death until you’re satisfied…” Yamamoto beamed at Hibari. It was always a blinding sight for the prefect that it irritated him sometimes.
“I have high standards, Yamamoto Takeshi,” Hibari quipped and pressed the tonfa again on Yamamoto’s neck.
“Well you can swallow me whole if you like then,” Yamamoto offered. Hibari raised an eyebrow at that.
“Excuse me?”
The latter only smiled, gave a long look at Hibari before kissing Hibari on his lips. When he felt the tonfa loosening, Yamamoto made a dash away from Hibari.
“I’ve always believe in ‘action speaks louder than voice’! Please spar with me later ok? I’ll be waiting!”
Hibari counted one to ten in his mind, biting his swollen lips in the process. Yamamoto Takeshi just signed his last will. Oh yes he did. And when Hibari opened his eyes-it promised a certain death.
When he kicks and punches you - Hold him tight.
Yamamoto evaded the strikes at first. He didn’t know how to react other than that. He didn’t want to hurt him. But he didn’t know what to do exactly. Namimori Middle School stood no more. The half of the main building was in ruins and it was understandable that Hibari was seething with anger.
“Get out of my way Yamamoto Takeshi,” he spat and was frustrated that Yamamoto kept on side-stepping.
“No, calm down Hibari,” Yamamoto replied. Hibari narrowed his eyes further and dashed forward to strike Yamamoto. The latter winced in pain but was overwhelmed when Hibari consecutively striked him in different parts of his body. Hibari’s eyes were full of rage that nothing ever mattered to him anymore. Yamamoto closed his eyes and stopped one tonfa with his hand. Hibari struggled violently but Yamamoto suddenly felt stronger. He pulled the smaller man closer and draped his bruised arms on his waist.
“Hibari, calm down,” he said in ragged breathing. Yamamoto’s voice suddenly tamed the raging emotions of Hibari and brought him back to his senses.
“Hibari, I don’t want you to die. Stay with me.”
“I’m not going to die. I’ll bite them to death and get off-” Yamamoto’s arms around him tightened. Hibari wondered why he wasn’t complaining much at the sudden invasion of his own space.
“Don’t go,” Yamamoto whispered softly and Hibari suddenly felt his own arm draping loosely around Yamamoto.
“I’m still going there tomorrow. You can’t stop me,” there’s certain stubbornness in Hibari’s voice that Yamamoto found amusing.
“Ahahaha, alright but I’ll go with you,” he pulled away to confirm Hibari’s agreement. Hibari frowned deeply.
“Do as you like.”
And Yamamoto did just that as Hibari find himself pressed against Yamamoto’s chest once again.
