Oh man, His Dark Materials is so good. I read it a few years ago and never as a kid, and I have no idea how a child is supposed to understand half of it. Plot-wise, okay, Lyra's a little girl and there's action and adventure. But seriously, it is so good, and I don't think a child could understand why. It was a bit hard to get into at first, and there will be new character POVs in other books (which always frustrates me, idk why), but stick with it and oh my godddd.
