Have you thought about doing something media related, like public relations? I don't like journalism, I learned after my first journalism class, but maybe you can do other forms of writing for the media. They were all part of my communications major, with the radio/tv/film concentration, but I'm sure there are other concentrations in communications that are interesting.
Or maybe you can major in English writing. I know my school had that option, you either majored in English literature or English writing. You can still take some of the lit classes, it's just not as lit focused.
Yeah, I hate journalism. And I can't major in it anyway because you have to double major in something else along with it. NYU's just trying to get people out of the department because there's too many journalism majors. There's no English writing program, that I know of anyway. There's a creative writing minor, but ehh. Also, I can't do communications. It's in a separate school, and it would be a huge pain for me to transfer again. And I'd never finish everything. NYU is ridiculous. This is why I sort of want to do Dramatic Literature, Theater History, and the Cinema. It's more interesting, to me anyway. But I also really like Metropolitan Studies. But...that's so out of left field. I don't even know where that came from. I just like cities. I'm not mentally mature enough for this whole college thing.
If your worried about majoring in something Left-field, my Dad majored in Anthropology and then went to buisiness school. So major in something you enjoy... You'll do better and be happier. Don't major in something that you think you won't like....
do you guys have performance studies? last year my english prof worked closely with some guy from NYU who like founded performance studies. I enjoyed the class, maybe you would too? if all else fails design your own major. though far much more work to get a mentor and prove yourself worthy blah blah blah, as long as you are good at BSing and have a good title then the rest is just you fucking around.
major in spanish...errr I mean what. Hahah. Seriously though, follow your heart on this. You don´t wanna be stuck with a job you hate because you didn´t switch majors. Or something. I sound like NHHS guidance now... fuck
