“Merton!” Gestahl called fiercely, throwing his palm forward. An astonished look crossed the older man’s features after seeing that nothing happened. “Why isn’t it working?” The emperor asked, looking confused and angry. Kefka laughed shrilly. “It’s very simple! I happen to be standing within the magical field of the statues. They’re absorbing everything thrown this way!” The old man’s eyes widened and he stepped back a bit. “Now!” Kefka commanded, “Show me your power…” Just as the insane man finished speaking, beams of light shot from the statues randomly. “You’d better run,” He called, cackling, “Or you’ll be well done!”
