I am filled with such an incredible feeling of hopelessness. I have been trying to get a new job, practically since I got this one. For a while I was fielding calls from recruiters who found my resume on one website or another. Now I don't even get that. 1. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
2. List all the skills you have and make sure those are reflected on your resume.
3. Have other people look over your resume to see if it can be improved on.
4. Expand your search area.
5. Consider other types of positions you could do that your skills would work in to.

How much time are you actually spending on job hunting? If you seriously want to find a job then you need to treat the job hunt as a job. Dedicate time to it every day.

Actaully, I was just stating how I feel and why I ferel that way. If you wish to interpret that as "feeling sorry for myself" that is YOUR choice. I don't think that I was engaing in self-pity but if you interpret it as such OK.

I was trying to give some practical solutions for finding a job. You weren't sounding 'feeling sorry for yourself' until the "recognize me for the complete loser that I have always known that I am".

But my bad. Sorry to interrupt.

No. Its OK. That wasn't so much a feeling sorry for myself statement as it was a statement of my self-esteem issues.

FWIW, this doesn't seem to be you, but the general state of HR these days. No one even sends you an acknowledgment unless they are ready to offer you an interview. I've experienced this myself, and so have all the job-hunting friends I know (and believe me, that's a LONG list!)
