I'm glad you got him back! D: My dad's girlfriend, Rhonda, her dog Monkey is awful about that. She's a little papillon-mix and she got loose once when we were all out on a walk. She just took off and wouldn't even look back no matter what you said to her. She sort of followed us through (I was walking Sasha, her Pomeranian) and I had water with me. She tired out from all the running and we sat down on a stoop and she laid about 20 feet from us so I poured some water in my hand and played with it. She came over to drink and I grabbed as much fur as I could! Rhonda had about given up till then. She's super nice when she's home or on a leash! She turns into devil dog when she's loose!
I have to admit, though, I am used to cats who wander free and wide. My mum's cat, Bob, is a very spoiled cat that is allowed free rein of the neighbourhood. And by rein, I actually mean reign. /lame pun
But that's NZ for you. We probably should be a little lot more wary about our native wildlife.
Kazzy my dear, it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal if he had his claws and was used to being outside. He is 2 years old and has only ever been out (escaped) one other time, and even then came back in within a few minutes. It's scary outside in the dark! (And he's a big chicken normally!) Not "street smart" at all! He's fine, however it's gonna take me weeks to recover! LOL
