Dean/Benny Canon in Supernatural?

Ok, just finished watching the latest (1/16) Supernatural episode. Is it just me or have they pretty much out and out declared Dean/Benny as canon? I mean, really. The entire episode is cut between Dean/Benny interactions and mirrored Sam/Amelia. Benny calls Dean. Amelia meets with Sam. Dean and Benny commiserate over the clusterfuck that was

Hi, Rhi! I know we haven't spoken in a while, and it looks like you haven't updated here in quite a while, either. I'm hoping you're still around. Do you remember the story you were beta-reading for me a loooong time ago, the sequel to my original novel "Pathfinder"? Well, I've finally gotten around to finishing it, and I'd love to hear your opinion of it if you're still interested.

As for your post on Supernatural, I have to totally agree. There was a time I was convinced the show was phasing Sam out and it was about to turn into the Dean & Benny show. :/
