Character name: Terra
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts. He is only seen in Birth by Sleep as a main character, but is uh... still present in the other games.
Timeline: Birth by Sleep game-- right before his battle with Xehanort and Vanitas
Age: around 20
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
Full list of his abilities here. I just want to concentrate on the most important aspects of his powers/strengths.

Keyblade: A very important aspect of the Kingdom Hearts universe. With it he can open any kind of lock, even the ones on hearts. Literally. So in the wrong hands a keyblade can remove people's hearts. Or open up a world by revealing its very heart and core and make it vulnerable to the Darkness from the outside. Or simply create mass chaos as a regular weapon. Terra's final keyblade is the Gaia Bane (English name "Ends of the Earth", which I refuse to use because the Japanese name is cooler :|) and it's more special than others of the series. It can turn into a cannon with the right Shotlock commands, and become a motorcycle-like vehicle for transportation through space.

Darkness: One big aspect of himself. Terra's own darkness is extremely strong and very much under control-- giving him a boost in battle. Darkness, typically, is the shadow made by light. It usually cant be touched. But in the KH-verse, both light and dark are forces that can be used as weapons. What darkness truly represents is debatable, as it's not full evil (look at Riku), but people are wary of it, because if they cant control it, it steals their hearts and turns them into black creatures called the Heartless, leaving nothing but empty bodies (or Nobodies-- hi, Orgy XIII). Or sometimes even nothing at all, as the body gets swallowed up by darkness, never to be seen again.

Wayfinder: The good luck charm given to him by Aqua, which she's "worked a little magic on" and connects his heart to his friends'-- figuratively, of course. With it, he can tap into his friends' powers (not only Aqua and Ven, but other people such as Zack-- a kid from another world who thinks he's cool--, Cinderella-- a Princess of Heart he actually befriended-- and even Maleficent-- technically not a friend, but they both have darkness within them) and use them as if he's always known how to do so (aka D-Linking).

Physical Strength: Terra's forte. He deals out massive damage-- at the cost of speed and defense. Tip when you're playing him: spam his dash. His walking speed is relatively normal though.

Magic: As implied in his name, his main element is earth, and his most powerful spells are earth-based, like Quake and Meteor. Dark-type spells (such as those he uses in his Shotlock commands) are also used, but not with the same frequency. Other spells such as Fire and Thunder are used when the occasion rises.

How would they use their abilities?: FOR HIS FRIIIIIIEEEEEEEEENDS. And when a situation needing them arises. But usually he wont be using them-- unless of course a door refuses to open up and he needs to get into the room.
Appearance:
Have a concept art scan and notice how he looks like an older, brown-haired blue-eyed Sasuke .D.b

And this is a CG render of his armor. To clear up any misconception about whether or not he's compensating for anything with the unusual size of his keyblades (because good god they're HUGE compared to the other protagonists'), you can very clearly see his crotch. And it is big. If you want me to point it out a lot closer for you, I will be happy to do so.

Back to business.

You'll find quite a lot of skirt jokes about Terra (but not from me, no), but I assure you that it's a hakama, traditional Japanese clothing that resemble wide-leg pants. This makes him bear a resemblance to the samurai of feudal Japan.

That odd-looking thing on his left arm is actually a piece of his armor, and not some weird piece of metal he stuck there just to look cool. If he touches the shoulder piece (more like bang his fist on it, really) the rest of the armor will appear in a flash of light and pretty sparkles. And disappear the same way too.

Terra is quite all, and if you line him and his friends up, you'd see a remarkable difference between himself and Aqua, who's far taller than Ventus. Ven is quite short anyway, so Aqua is of decent for a girl. I'd put the guy at around 6'3".

His eyes are blue, and they've never changed in canon before, but given the right amount of darkness and some time of using it, they may become gold. It's one of the first few marks of a person touched by darkness. It may happen soon, or may happen later, but he's still susceptible (I wont deny wanting to play out his eyes turning momentarily or even permanently gold given the right plot gold eyes are pretty okay >:).

Background/Personality:
Background:
It's not said how exactly Terra came to be under Master Eraqus to be a Keyblade Master, what exactly being a master entails, outside of being able to choose an apprentice to train with the keyblade, and/or travel the worlds, or even why he'd even want to undergo something that dangerous. Or how he even manifests darkness when the others around him don't. It's not even said who his parents are/were, and where exactly he came from. And that, my friends, is one thing Squeenix needs to fix in future KH games :|

Lack of childhood scenes aside, we do know Terra wants to become a Keyblade Master in his own right. That's why he trains hard under Eraqus, a Keyblade Master living in the Land of Departure (weird name for a world, I know), with his fellow student and only playable girl in the game, Aqua. Later on they're joined by Ventus, a boy passed on to Eraqus by his old friend (and I do mean old) and fellow Master, Xehanort.

At the beginning, Terra and Aqua have had a little trouble making friends with Ventus, as he had lost his memory, and any questions about his past would force him to pass out. Little by little though, he'd managed to pull him into a training session with Aqua, and even given him his old keyblade-shaped wooden sword, so he could start training, just like them, and carry the same dream Terra and Aqua both have to be a Keyblade Master. From then on, Ventus has been his best friend, and the duo has now become a trio.

Years later, Terra and Aqua are facing the Mark of Mastery Exam, one last test to see if they have not the skills or power to become a Keyblade Master, but have a strong heart, which means having determination, faith, and all that jazz we associate with Disney and its happy things. On the eve of the exam, Aqua gives them good luck charms in the shape of a star (yellow-orange one being Terra's), being based on a fruit in a world somewhere, because according to a legend surrounding it, if you eat the fruit with someone, your destinies will be connected forever.

Master Xehanort is a spectator during the exam, and manages to cause some trouble during it, infecting the spheres of light with darkness and making the first part of the exam a little more dangerous for everyone. Just a little, but it has done its job, because Terra may have lost some steam, and actually manifested some of his own darkness in the middle of the second part, a duel with Aqua. Because of this, only Aqua was announced a Keyblade Master. Which is technically unfair, because he stopped it before it did anything else.

So bumhurt Terra is a little bumhurt about not being able to become a Master, and Xehanort takes this opportunity to fuck with his mind a little more. According to the old man, darkness can be channeled into more power, implying that if Terra can do this, it will be seen as control and not a hindrance. And maybe he'll have a chance to be a Master.

Minutes later, another old friend of Eraqus has contacted him about a plague of monsters dubbed as Unversed. According to the friend, Yen Sid (former Keyblade Master himself), they're born from extremely powerful negative emotions, and seek to harm the Princesses of the Heart, seven girls who are born naturally free of darkness, and cannot be tainted whatsoever like normal people, and therefore are very highly respected by Keyblade wielders. If they're in trouble, then someone has to save them, right? Both Aqua and Terra are ordered to protect them by fighting off the Unversed, with the added job that they must find Xehanort, who surprisingly has disappeared after speaking with Terra.

If Terra manages to complete this, then he has a shot at becoming a Keyblade Master too, without waiting for another exam. This is what gives him a little more motivation to do what's asked of him-- and at the same time, his are friends so worried about this reality that Ventus goes after him by himself, and Master Eraqus has Aqua watch over him when she can.

The darkness in his heart (and his wallbanging stupidity) catches the attention of the likes of Maleficent, an evil witch who tricks him into stealing the heart of a Princess he was supposed to protect, Hook, the pirate who has him steal treasure from Peter Pan and his band of kids, and even Hades, god of the underworld who wishes him to fight against a boy named Hercules. The reward for doing so is more information about Xehanort's whereabouts (which he doesn't get because bad people are vague and use him for their own means), but Terra still realizes that what he's been doing is wrong. Just not the fact that he's being slowly tainted with every step he takes.

In a world called Radiant Garden, he meets Ventus and Aqua again, but it's not really a happy reunion. Terra asks Aqua to take Ventus home, because he has something important to do-- which he does, of course. But Aqua accuses Terra of having more of embraced his darkness than fought against it, and Terra comes to the conclusion that she has been asked to spy on him. Goodbye dream of becoming a Keyblade Master, apparently Eraqus didn't trust him. Goodbye trust in Aqua too, because he thought they were friends. Which they still are, but... he doesn't give her a chance to explain before he storms off.

Poking around a little more in Radiant Garden, Terra comes across Master Xehanort at last within the catacombs underneath the castle, having been led there by a man named Braig, who is apparently a guard of the castle and an apprentice of the man who owns it, Ansem the Wise-- aka the sage-king of Radiant Garden (and an important figure in later games). Terra fights Braig for Xehanort's freedom, and his darkness actually has to take control of him just to win (all in Xehanort's plans, because Braig was in league with the old guy).

As a reward, Terra is offered a position as Xehanort's student and leave Eraqus. And even a shot at using his darkness as a weapon, instead of suppressing it, against the ultimate evil named Vanitas-- incidentally Xehanort's own pupil. Because apparently this Vanitas kid is planning something deep and dark, and Xehanort needs help from someone who can fight him on equal grounds, aka Terra.

Xehanort only clinches Terra's loyalty by calling him "Master". And the guy practically swallows this up. Goodbye Master Eraqus. You were an arsehole.

Shortly after, Terra finds himself on an island in front of the beach. At his feet is a star-shaped fruit-- the same one Aqua had talked about long ago. This induces a bit of "baaaw", because he admits he misses his friends, and wonders when they'll ever be a team, their trio again. It becomes a revelation for him, and a big turning point, because this is when he realizes that he needs to get a grip on himself.

Nearby are two boys, one of which catches his attention. When they pass him by, one boy passes him by with only a curious glance, but the other, the one he had noticed, actually approaches and strikes up conversation, knowing immediately that he was not from around the area. And it's from him that Terra finds out that there was someone, long before this kid was born, who left the same world for good. On the player's side, we learn that this is Xehanort himself as a teenager.

During their conversation, Terra finds out that this little boy, this kid with light hair and dark green eyes, this island kid with a mature outlook of life, wants to leave his home so that he can learn things, become strong and protect everything that is important to his heart, like his friends. And this is what prompts Terra to make the kid his successor, making him hold his keyblade for a few seconds, and marking him as a future keyblade wielder and let him have the strength he wants. His parting words to the boy is a bit of a warning: don't tell anyone. Not because the "magic will wear off" like he told him, but because other worlds are supposed to be kept secret from people who didn't know or believe, in order to preserve these worlds. Imagine, what would you do if there was another world just like this one out there? Someone would try to take it over, right? And so this is what Terra still needs to preserve.

He never gets the kid's name, only hears it from the other boy, but it really doesn't matter, because they already have a connection. And one day, he's sure that they'll meet again.

It's not only the kid who leaves with something new-- Terra also decides that as long as he has power, whether it be darkness or light, he has people he wants to protect too. Aqua and Ventus are still his friends, and so, he'll protect them. With this realization, his keyblade gains a new, more powerful form (old keyblade: Earth Shaker, new keyblade: Gaia Bane).

It's only a matter of time before he's summoned by Xehanort to a place dubbed the Badlands, to discuss Ventus. Apparently he was returning to the Land of Departure to confront Eraqus about his past. Xehanort describes him as "furious", and "capable of anything" against Eraqus-- all bullshit, really, but Xehanort manipulates everyone anyway. And Terra does take the bait, heading for the Land of Departure immediately. Little did he know that Xehanort was the one who told Ventus of his past, and that he was not angry-- all he wanted was confirmation from Eraqus, who instead turns on him with his keyblade with the intent to kill him. Terra comes in on this scene, forcibly sends Ventus to the island he'd been on earlier, and beats the shit out of Eraqus enough to allow him to get sniped from afar by magic and die. Oops. He didn't mean it, honest. He was just trying to save his best friend.

But it did happen, and he does blame himself for it. And he regrets it very much, especially with Eraqus's last words, blaming himself for Terra's shortcomings and the darkness within him, that he's always loved him like a son, and he really never wanted something like this to happen. Finally, Terra realizes that he's played into Xehanort's games, all of them, from the very beginning of his journey, and watches as his world is taken apart and swallowed up by darkness. In Xehanort's words, he wont need a home anymore, where he's going.

Just where is he going? The Badlands, real name the Keyblade Graveyard (aptly named for the millions of old keyblades within it, stuck to the ground like grave markers to commemorate a war that had raged there so many years ago), to meet up with his friends once more and then confront Xehanort and Vanitas, who had been messing with Ventus's and Aqua's heads the same way Xehanort has been with Terra's.

He confesses to Aqua that it's his fault why Eraqus died, that he's been the problem all along, that he's been the most stupid douche there was, and that Aqua and Eraqus were right. And he promises not to do it again.

Aqua doesn't believe him, because Xehanort is always, always there, pushing him around, making him fight, and that will only make things worse.

When Ventus comes around, they realize just what their friend's true destiny is-- fight Vanitas, make the keyblade, and that's what makes Eraqus so intent on doing away with him, to keep him from making something that Xehanort wants, because anything that Xehanort wants is obviously something terrible and dangerous. And Ven shares Eraqus' sentiment, asking Terra and Aqua to kill him if he starts doing what Xehanort wants him to do.

THAT'S IT BOYS AND GIRLS. I refuse to go any further because this is Terra's canon point, and because THERE ARE SPOILERS BEYOND THIS MARK. GO PLAY THE GAME.

... Or you can come to me and I'll tell you :>

Personality:
At first sight, Terra's an outstanding, brave and very respectable young man. Who wouldn't be impressed by his posture, his strength and simply, his stature? He's just so cool. He's very, very impressive, and by looks alone, he looks like a guy you shouldn't mess with. And you really shouldn't, especially if his friends Ventus and Aqua are the casualties.

Terra, being the eldest of the trio, is the big brother of the group, most especially to Ven, the baby, the newbie and the kid who looks up at both of them with big, hopeful blue eyes. When his friends are getting threatened, he will go through a whole shitload of things to kick ass, take no names, and just take you out of the picture. Oh, sure he'd try to negotiate... with his big freaking keyblade.

This also stretches out to other people whom he's formed a connection to, in one way or another. When Maleficent tried to persuade him to take away Princess Aurora's heart, a princess he's never known before, he was ready to draw his keyblade on the witch. When he realized Captain Hook was really the villain in Neverland, he banded with the Lost Boys and patsies the guy. But really, the most prominent example of all was that when Ventus' life was being threatened by Master Eraqus himself, Terra did not hold back in taking him down.

That's not to say that he has a short fuse in the temper department. It's just that he's very protective of those he cares about. That's all he ever is-- a loving person, a big-hearted, kind of herp-derp guy, and simply someone you can count on to be there, take care of you when you're sick, or have your back in a fight. In Aqua's words, he's pure. A pure person, a pure soul. Nevermind that he's using darkness as a weapon-- he's come to terms with it, no matter how much there is within him, and no matter how dependent he seems to be on it as his story progresses. He decides that he will use it for his friends, for what he believes in, and that point of view is what keeps him strong and sane, which sadly cant be said for most people who have been exposed to the darkness as much as he has.

His ability to discern right from wrong is a bit of a touch-and-go though. And maybe he's just a little too pure, even for his own good. A good 80% of the time spent playing his story is dedicated to smashing your head against the wall, because he is just a horrible judge of character. Not sometimes, not because the villain does not look evil (c'mon, Maleficent will never ever look like a good person) but because he's just too trusting of a person. Too naive, too derpy (maybe even sheltered from things that are not light and dark and the keyblades). Too focused on one thing (which is usually hunting down Master Xehanort) to concentrate on another, and generally a horrible judge of character. Even Peter Pan himself has commented that he looks like an easy guy to trick. He's gotten better, because he's realized just what kind of bullshit he's been doing, but still. Old habits are hard to break.

As a typical Kingdom Hearts (and Disney) character, Terra firmly believes in the strength of the heart, and all the things people can accomplish if they do too, and he's not shy about letting people know about this, especially when they need it. He's practically the giver of unsolicited advice (and sometimes with added snark) in the game.

Why should that character be in this game:

Why do you want to continue their history here:

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play:

Have you read up on how the game works?: He's got a FlamingFerret in his Guide, and he can keep up by working them missions, mooch, or get a permanent job, if he can.

Questions?: Why do I play men all the damn time. How many cocks can a person even play in this game?
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Aye, skipper o7
