Unbelievable.

Public high school history teacher David Paszkiewicz in Kearney, NJ. apparently decided to switch subjects on the spot and teach religion, instead, telling his students that they were going to hell if they didn't accept Christ. When one of his students requested a meeting with school administrators, Paszkiewicz denied saying it and insisted that ( Read more... )

I think what I find most atrocious is, if it was the other way around (i.e. him denouncing religion) he would've already been fired or something. :/

Why the fuck do people let assholes get away with this shit? I'm trying to imagine some teacher pulling that stunt while teaching in my high school history class. He'd have been out on his ass so damn fast, probably for the same reasons the Marines won't take those talking Jesus dolls seeing as my high school was run by the DoD. Or maybe he could have tried it at my first high school, where 45% of the kids were Muslims. That would have been some good times.

And again with the sloppy statistics work. The idea that the fact there were no terrorists attacking the US in 1962 is directly connected to prayer in schools is inane, and that's not even getting to the whole "we had no race issues" thing, which is just plain WRONG!

Also, totally OT, I have your cold. Pliz to be smacking whoever it was at work who spread it.

Unfortunately, the Marines got pressured to take the dolls. On the upside, I bet the people doing the pressuring will be ripshit when the realize that the kids are tearing Jesus' head off and sticking it on Barbie, or dressing him up in a lovely sequinned party number.

New Jersey! I expect things like this out of Kentucky, but for some reason I think of New England as less crazy. *boggles*

...now my parents grew up and went to public schools but they went prior to 1962 so the teachers read the bible and the teachers prayed a nd it was part of the school day and. i phrase this very very diplomatically, but that's the generation that did not have terrorism did not have race agression and all of that...

What.

I actually used to have a teacher who WOULD slip lectures about Christianity and religion into his classes. I suppose, if nothing else, it's good to see that people give enough of a shit here to actually listen if someone complains...
