...if I was looking for good SGA fic, where might I start? I'll read het as well as slash  and I'm not an OTP-er so it doesn't have to be John/Rodney.

Y'know, the only thing I've read in that fandom is TCOAD, and I know nothing of its authors, but I do know wickedwords writes there (see here), and as far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with anything she's writing. So it's not a completely blind rec... :)

The mckay_shepherd and sga_slashfic communities have some decent stuff. And there is occasionally stuff in sg_rarepairings and oddball_sga.

Well there's my stuff over at amific (not pimping really) then seperis, svmadelyn, sdraeven all have rec lists though I'm not sure how recent they are they'll give you a good lay of the author's land.
