I'm guessing that it won't surprise anybody that I've started eating meat again. I went to the Red Line yesterday and ordered something called "The Texan" which involved roast beef -- really good, rare house-roasted beef -- caramelized red onions, horseradish, and a side of chipotle-tainted au jus. I was ovo-lacto for five years, before I fell. It was the salmon at the natural food store that did me in, but now I'm eating total crap (mostly because I'm broke).

I'm acquainted with a great deal of slippery vegan-to-ovo-to-lacto-to-burger-bingers-and-all-the-way-back. I respect the lot of them, particularly because they all really enjoy and appreciate food.

My eating crap has more to do with the fact that my job can be physically exhausting and also because I live alone. I took more time with meal prep when I lived with people who'd eat my food. Now I'm just goddamned lazy. Broke, too, but that's just a given.

Ovo-lacto vegetarians are vegetarians who also eat eggs and dairy.

Oh, I thought that ones who didn't were vegans. Hey, what do I know, I grew up in New Orleans sausage land and Hawai'i spam land.
