Hmm... I like the incongruity of "...doesn't have the sense that God gave a rat's ass."

That reminds me of a friend of my mom's from when I was in elementary school. She was rurally wise, the wife of an actual farrier. She was always Yogi Berra-ing sayings, though, like "one hand scratches the other's back." I could definitely hear her saying that.

I was reflecting on this earlier with Berrick on IM, noticing how the top Google hit ("goose") was alliterative, as was the third ("goat"), but that I liked the ones that were alliterative with "sense" -- Google found "squirrel" and "slug", for example. "Skunk" fits that pattern nicely.

I don't know what triggered me to think of it right now, after the thousands of times I've seen the word "skunk" in discussions of Warner Bros. animation, but it's something of a disappointment to me that "skink, skank, skunk" is not in fact a conjugation of any kind.
