Poll: Sense and sensibility

So I've just come to work for the first full day since Friday, having been out Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with the worst sickness I've had since mononucleosis laid me low for three weeks in college. That reminds me of a friend of my mom's from when I was in elementary school. She was rurally wise, the wife of an actual farrier. She was always Yogi Berra-ing sayings, though, like "one hand scratches the other's back." I could definitely hear her saying that.

I was reflecting on this earlier with Berrick on IM, noticing how the top Google hit ("goose") was alliterative, as was the third ("goat"), but that I liked the ones that were alliterative with "sense" -- Google found "squirrel" and "slug", for example. "Skunk" fits that pattern nicely.

I don't know what triggered me to think of it right now, after the thousands of times I've seen the word "skunk" in discussions of Warner Bros. animation, but it's something of a disappointment to me that "skink, skank, skunk" is not in fact a conjugation of any kind.
