You can all rage back and forth with "Protect the children!" and "F*** the children!" for an eternity, for all I care. My problem is simply being an independent adult, with my own source of income, being told I have no right to view and experience what a child shouldn't ( Read more... )

The worst thing about it, other than than obvious police state/Big Brother scenario, is that the cost of this wonderfully bandwidth throttling garbage, will come out of consumer pockets.

*cries tears of despair*

That said, I haven't heard anything about it at ALL for quite some time. This may be a bad thing, though.

Nudge nudge wink wink say no more, haha.

Let it be known that just because I am glad to no longer be under a Howard government, or an ETSA selling coalition state government (yeah, I remember back that far), that does not stop me from wanting to question authority, call bullshot on and scream bloody murder towards the likes of Mr.Atkinson and Mr.Conlon.

Much as I have no qualms about building relation with China, you have to wonder if the Ruddster, or atleast Conlon, felt inspired by the PRC's censorship of free press and information. At least they were more upfront about thier intentions, rather than using the old PTC excuse.

I don't see why R18 games is such a freaking issue here in Australia. It's easy to ID someone when they buy alchohol or movies of that rating, so why not a video game? If underage kids to manage to get a hold of those sorts of games, it's no ones fault but the parents for not checking up on them.

It could also be the fault of the proprietor, if they sold the child such products, much like legalised drugs and tobacco. This means heavy fines, which means both a heavy deterrent for the proprietor and more government revenue. Both state and federal governments could use the same reasons they throw down for extortionate traffic and speeding fines, but wedging the word children in there a few more times.

I'm sure people like Mr.Atkinsom would love to see a German level of censorship on game content. No human dismemberment, naughty words, violence or references to atrocities.

But they do have robots, lots and lots of robots. Robots who get shot at, stabbed, tormented, beaten, abused and raped. Why, Mr.Atkinson, why? Do you hate robots? That's it, isn't it? You hate robots! You mecha-racist, anti-robotic purveyor of silicon hate! My great grandmodel (ver1.01b) died in the robot holocaust!
