For those of you who I have not already e-mailed with evidence of my poetic theorising over the last week or so, I urge you to offer your opinions on the following pieces. I have felt a strange complusion to write as of late. Whether it's the overwhelming amount of work I have going or perhaps some ancient melancholy risen from its grave within my ( Read more... )

I too can find something to like in most poems that I read. The lines you've mentioned are some of my best in my humble opinion, thanks for your thoughts, glad you liked them.

I like "The Creative Process", it just has a real quotability to it.

quotable indeed.

it reminds me of a quote in the movie 500 Days of Summer, if anyone's seen it. the guy works at a greeting card company and is making up a Congratulations card on the spot and he says something like:

Every day you make me proud, but today...you get a card.

XD

"Economics" and "Feelings" are my favorite. "Creative Process" (ars poetica?) got an amused smirk. xP

your favorite is...feelings. *shrugs* i love the ambiguity surrounding the question, and it almost seems to ask the question itself after you read her answer. unless the question was something absurd like, "Do you like pancakes?"

*dies*

Ars Poetica-"On Poetry" or "The Art of Poetry", something like that, isn't it? In "Economics" what I wanted to do was(possibly preventing further readings here) set up a comparison between time and money. Really, it should run like: "How little (time) we would spend / if we could not spend (money)". Because time IS money, as they say. Also trying to show how important money becomes when you don't have it.

In "Feelings", I have questions in mind, but I'm not going to reveal them! It's not about pancakes, however.
Surely I will get at least one bemused commenter who will argue that the feelings represent maple syrup or whatnot, but they are wrong, I'm afraid.

My favourite is actually "Heart, Break", because it's sort of how I'm feeling at the moment. The last lines "and not what is will do for dreams/while not is what not seems" are what I'm especially proud of.

Thanks much.
