Before we begin our dual review deluxe, some background:

Toy Story was not only one of my favourite animated movies, but one of my very first movies that I saw at the cinema. I recall much of it in detail, and I have always found the characters truly lovable; both the first and second are touching stories that emphasise the importance of our ( Read more... )

I haven't gotten around to watching Toy Story 3 yet but after reading your review, I'm on a mission to find it in a theater somewhere around here.
I'm looking forward to reading your review of Inception as well!

I was toying with the idea of going to see it, but leaning toward not. Due to the fact that the first one was wonderful, while the second fell flat. I imagined the third to follow suit.
But your review is illuminating!

Now I will make it a mission to see this.

Thank you!

Yes! I think if the second didn't deliver the goods, the third will. It's refreshingly old-fashioned fun. You're very welcome, darling.

You thought the humor in Shrek 2 is weak? Really? I thought it was amazing and very much up-to-par with the first movie, unlike Shrek 3 and 4.

I can't say I agree with you, Meowzy-everyone I went to see it with at the time loved the first. But the second soured our Shrek experience. The Fairy Godmother ruined it for me, I think.

Oh, that's strange. Everyone I went to see it with loved Shrek 2. The experience didn't get soured until Shrek 3, which was a load of... Well.

I disagree with both of you BWAHAHA! I was never enamoured of Shrek at all tbh, though of the two I've seen (1 and 2) 2 amused me more, though from a plot perspective I can see it wasn't as engaging and yes it did resort to a tad too many pop culture references, I mean the opening was more or less every 2002 film's big sequence verbatim.

Dreamworks has never captured my imagination like most Pixar movies, but I do stand by Kung Fu Panda as perhaps the greatest cgi animated film of all time, controversial as that statement most certainly is.
