Who will play Orpheus to my Eurydice?

Dec 22, 2007 01:41

I know I promised silliness but this insisted on being written. Musey demands to be pleased.

Title: Eurydice
Pairing: Implied Spangel
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Joss encourages us to play in HIS world.
Summary: Post NFA. Angsty drabble. How much would he be willing to give to get what he thought he had always wanted?

If he writes well…

They say that gain only comes from sacrifice. Without sacrifice, there can be no gain.

That was a lesson he learned all too well.

After all, how can one take inspiration from life without the shadow of loss?

And he…after all these years of searching…

He has finally felt the pinpricks of inspiration.

If he writes well enough…

Spike would never have allowed it. He had enough to be tormented about.

Poetry need not be added to the list.

It’s a good thing then, that he’s not here to bear witness.

If he writes well enough, maybe…

In the twilight of his mind, his passion bleeds across the smooth parchment. For a moment, he hesitates…before signing it with the name of a man long dead.

William is owed this, at least.

If he writes well enough, maybe…just…

“Is it ready yet?”

His pen has emptied but his mind never will.

“In a minute.”

“Good. They grow weary of waiting.”

If he writes well enough, maybe…just maybe…

He ponders for a brief moment before hastily scribbling in the title on the top of the sheet.

“Eurydice?” A chuckle. “How apt…”

The parchment disappears to make its way to its audience.

Will this be the one? Will they finally be pleased?

If he writes well enough, he thinks to himself as he waits by the gates of hell, maybe…just maybe…

…they will let Angel live.
