Xana backstory

Background story on Xana’s past.
Xana is a Avariel, a winged Elf who was born and raised with High Wood Elfs. Her father was a half-Eladrin, that is the son of a wood elf and an Eladrin, or high elf, while her ‘true’ mother was an Avariel, and her stepmother is a wood Elf. Her father, Wenlath, was expecting her to follow in his footsteps and become a cleric and head of the temple of the Eldath. When she refused feeling that her father was expecting her to play the role of the perfect daughter, Xanphilia left to try to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. Leaving the Forests was one of the hardest things she had done.
While on her own she ran into a young man by the name of Melchior who was a trained Duskblade that was acting in service to the Sliver Flame. Offering to help her, Xana went with him to meet the leader of the church Jaela Daran a young girl who at the age of eleven was the speaker to the flame, or Flamekeeper. The Flame itself is a being that acts as the protector against the Lords of Dusk and other groups.
Before Janus time the Silver Flame was known for its Zealot nature. Among other crimes, they killed the Lycans attacking them as they were seen as evil. Since that time the Silver Flame church has been working to make an accord with the Lycans. Seeing a friend in the girl Xanaphila joined the church, though not worshiping the Silver Flame, and was trained by Melchoir. She later discovered that, like her, he was an Avariel, however his wings were cut off in a fight, and he is only now starting to grow them back with the help of various magic. Melchior knows that he is Xana’s older brother, they share the same mother.
Her mother had left the mountains, minus her son when she fell in love with Wenlath. Unfortunately she died giving birth to Xana. Xana only in recent months has discovered that Melchoir is her brother and that has brought them closer together. While training to become a Duskblade, and act as a specialized officer to Janus, Xana met Genius, a young human who was training with her. The two shared closeness, however, Genius’s feeling towards another girl kept them apart. He eventually married this other girl, leaving Xana a bit bitter towards the whole idea of love.
Xana took several trips with her brother to the Avarial homelands in the mountains, where she met with the rest of her mother’s flock. Here she got her nyoi-bo as a gift from her grandfather and was taught the history of the winged goddess Aerdrie Faenya, whom she has chosen to worship. As such she works towards the greater good, but is willing to work with others that are not so innocent in nature. She has a great love of life and views violence with some distain. She won’t take a life unless she has to, and was granted the touch of Silver by Jaela, which allows her to exorcize evil spirits that will possess a person.
She dyes her wings as a show of respect to her goddess and wears gems in her hair as custom to the Wood Elves that she lived with. This is also her supply for when she has no money. She’s very keen in her observations, and gets on others nerves when she says they are in the wrong. This comes from her time spent training to be a cleric and her own beliefs.

Name: Agatha Marie Westonbirt (nee Bhrom)
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Hetrosexual
Profession: Lady of the Victorian Company, wife of Robert, and she’s also a writer, though this is less known, and only to those in her inner circle.

Appearance: Agatha has bright red hair that comes from her mother. She has blue eyes which her father says comes from his side of the family, though others believe that it may have come from her mother as well. Always dressed elegantly Agatha likes to present herself as a good young woman who is striving to help her father. Which on the one hand is true, but she’s rather independent and tries to balance that with the duties of being a proper daughter and wife. She normally is seen in fine dresses that match her hair and eyes, embroidered across the ocean with lace and other materials. Though she tends to prefer the less expensive dresses, as her motto is, “substance and quality over overt elegance and a onetime use”, she also has a preference to wearing men’s trousers while in the house and when she’s working outside in her garden as it makes things easier for her while painting. In Agatha’s mind it allows for manageability to move around the house at a quick pace and make sure that all is well. She keeps her hair mostly up and styled, however she admits that most of her stylized hair false and that her hair is rather short by nature. Living in the east gave rise to the shorter hair after a mishap when a child with her hair being caught in some tree branches while out in the garden one afternoon. Agatha prefers her shorter hair but again only lets her hair remain out of its proper look while at home.

Played-By: Christina Hendricks

Personality: Agatha might be called a young feminist. Raised by her father, she has a serious if kind personality. Her mind is on the benefit of others vs. on the matters of most women. She views business as a right that has to be earned and one that she considers very highly. Agatha becomes very displeased with others of her sex that choose to be frivolous with the money that they have not earned, and she in turn as a child would do small tasks to earn money from her father as a means of understanding his job. She is gentle most of the time, caring for those that she loves, especially her husband Robert and her father Augustus. She, however, has very little respect for others that show disregard for those that work under them and she likes to keep an eye on costs, finding ways to not only keep the costs down, but also ways that will make more jobs for those that need them, be it clerks or working as gardeners. Agatha is a smart woman, she has been educated by a tutor since a child, but also has been taught by her father in private and understands the way his business is run. For this reason she likes to assist her husband in any way possible to make his job easier and smoother. She can be seductive when she wants to, and knows that flirting can get information from people, but she uses her charms only so much as she prefers to use them on her husband and keep him on his toes about her. She’s very much in favor of women eventually being able to run a business, and to earn their own keep. Her feeling for this come from the fact that she knows that some of the women that work for the perfumery are skilled enough to hold the job by themselves, and can be just as good, if not better, then a man at certain positions other than teaching.

History: Agatha was born on September 15 to Augustus Bhrom and his late wife. She was raised after her mother’s early death by her father and a rotating group of nurse maids that came into and out of her life. Her late Mother’s sister also helped in her growing up, though it was more the influence of her father that shaped Agatha into what she is now. As a child she used to be more like the other girls. Charming and sweet, only after she saw that her actions were not getting her what she wanted did she realize that women had a far more limited role then she was used to. Her father had, due to the fact that he was a single parent, raised her solely with the intention of teaching her about his business that, should he get ill for a time, Agatha could step in and be the silent partner to handle his affairs until he got better. This role she performed when he became ill when she was in her mid teens. Her tasks were to manage his affairs, make sure that the company ran smoothly and sign off on documents that would benefit and help the VC, their affiliates and constituents. She became highly interested in the running of the business and soon fell out of favor with her older friends, deciding instead to talk to young cousins that would discuss business and politics with her. Affirming her belief in the fact that an individual can change things slowly, Agatha contends that a woman can do things that a man can do in certain fields. She also grew up acknowledging that sometimes the best way to enact change is to do so from the inside out, which is what she intends to help Robert with.

As a young girl she used to wear her hair long, but while going up a tree one day, her hair got tangled in some branches, as she was going to get some flowers. In trying to get her hair out, it got stuck, in worse, and the gardeners on her estate had to cut her hair to get her down. Since then she’s been wearing her hair short as the event actually gave her nightmares for a long time. She’s become accustomed to the shorter hair and usually leaves it short when at home. Properly though she puts it up when out and about in public. She has only had really one love, that being Robert, though she has flirted with other men openly. Still she finds him far more interesting than even her father at times and decided after their first meeting that he was the man she wanted to marry. Of course Augustus felt this was a good choice and agreed to a betrothal. As a young woman she realized early on that she would be placed in an arranged marriage, as such she worked hard to get to know the men that her father had an eye on to act as her suitors because, while she knew her marriage would be one of convenience and not of choice, she still wanted to have a relationship with the man she was with, and not feel like she was being trapped by someone that she did not care for. Nor did Agatha wish to wind up like some of her friends who married older men, and then had men on the side as their dalliances. She was very pleased then when her father accepted Robert’s parents offer for marriage, and knew that they would become close as both friends and husband and wife.

More recently Agatha has started to write novels and such for women in her own views. She goes under the name of Samuel August, the first name was to be her given name had she been a boy out of respect for her mother’s late younger brother, the last name comes from her father’s name and the fact that she equates herself to being an August child more than that of a September born one. Her work received high reviews, and her father supported her work. Though she can’t openly admit to being a woman writer, Agatha does try to keep on top of her writing and wants to share it with her husband someday.

Extra: She is an avid painter and enjoys nature. She loves to read and has an affinity for birds and dogs. As a child her father once allowed her to keep an Monkey as a pet while on visit to a distant land in the east. Agatha was unable to bring it back with her, so in most of her works there is the mention of a monkey at some point in the story. She speaks four languages, her native language, the equivalent of Latin, the equivalent of French, and bits of eastern language to varying degree that she picked up. She tends to like to smell lighter perfumes.

Event: Agatha watched the rolling countryside from the train window as they traveled back to Sedona. Robert had seemed quiet the whole while, as he'd gotten word of the murder of the little girl, Belle Chaser from one of the assistants at the arboretum. It had made Agatha sick to her stomach that the man accused, one Alfred Brooke, had apparently been hired by the VC to murder the child on orders from and official. When she found out who that official was, she was going to have him sacked, or possibly more done to him. Of course she didn't dare to mention this to her husband as he was the one that was going to be controlling the company once her father passed on. Still the whole notion seemed preposterous at first, now the weight was sinking in and she felt rather guilty for the whole thing.

In the midst of the ride she glanced over at her husband. He was reading the paper, borrow furrowed like something had gotten inside his mind and was twisting cranks to make his calm face fall into a contorted caricature of himself. Clearly though that wasn't the case, and Robert was, to her knowledge, dwelling on what to do when they returned. He would certainly have to talk to the girl's uncle, the Father James Chaser, along with the Sheriff to see the documentation that showed that it was under orders that the girl was shot in order to correct things.

Ducking her head some to look into the book on her lap, Agatha glanced up at Robert and spoke softly, "Robert, love, what are you thinking?"
