Halloween?
Current mood: tired

Seriously, what the heck am I going to wear for Halloween? I haven't got a clue. I had an idea, but this not driving thing makes it really tough to find time to get to JoAnn's and spend as much time there as I want looking for fabrics. THAT, and I don't fit into just one pattern size; I'm a different size in my bust, waist, and hips so... Also don't want to wear my Ren Fest dresses, that'd be boring. Maybe I'll make Chris pick out some female superhero chick for me and I'll go buy some cheap dress from one of those teeny-bopper stores in the mall.

I wanna post about my weekend, but I'm too tired to write (from being a mopey pants today), and am running out of time today to write during work. Ah well. Three new pictures in my albums show some of the weekend.

Yup. That's it.

Wonky

I used "wonky" in an e-mail today, I'm so proud of myself. I also used the term "legal jargon."

Little Bits

A bit better today. My ear still hurts like a mother, but I think if I take some Advil or something that will help a little, at least. I don't have a fever anymore, which is good. It wasn't THAT high, it was 99.5 or something, but when I took my temp this morning, it was 97.0, so if that's "normal" for me, it makes it seem worse.

The worst thing--I can handle the pain for the most part--is the hearing!!! Because my ear canal is all swollen, it makes hearing a pain in the butt. Chris drove me to work this morning and the heat was blowing, the radio was on, and he was talking, and it was driving me nuts (no, I didn't have a steering wheel attached to my pants...), so I had to turn the other two down to hear him.

It WOULD be nice to be able to chew, though. It hurts to open my mouth too wide. I had yogurt and chicken noodle soup yesterday, then chili for dinner.

This should be a fun weekend. Hanging out with some friends tonight, then going to Chris's dad's tomorrow too see the family. It will be a good time :)

My mom is so funny. She sent my MDA donation here to work instead of to my apartment, then sent me coupons for mouthwash and contact solution :) I love my parents.

Did I say that I got a new CD? Josh Groban has a new CD out, so since I had a 15% off coupon for Barnes and Noble, I decided to go buy it. Turns out it's a Christmas CD, but that's okay with me. I listened to Christmas music yesterday. teehee :)

There's some Haunted Kalamazoo thingie this Saturday and next. It'd be fun to go, even though I'm not sure I believe in the whole ghost-y thing. I have friends who do, but I have never had an "encounter." (Not saying I want to, either....goosebumps!)

Umm...parcel drawing time, I guess...

Punched In The Ear

I feel like I've been punched in the side of the head. Remember my complaints about my ear hurting? Well, it's worse than it's ever been. I went to Urgent Care last night to get it checked out, because a few people said I might have an ear infection. Sure enough...I do. It's an outer ear infection, and it effin' HURTS. It throbs, it hurts to turn my head or bend my neck, it hurts to touch it, it hurts to open my mouth too wide, it hurts to chew, it hurts to lay on it... They gave me drops, but they haven't started working yet. It's pretty much "swimmer's ear," but I obviously didn't get it from swimming. My ear has been awfully itchy lately, and I think I scratched it too hard with a Q-Tip or something. Maybe I got some gross dirt in it from Faire--that's when it started hurting, that last weekend.

I had a slight fever last night and this morning, 1.5 or 2 degrees above normal (and is still a little elevated). I'm not really SICK, necessarily, it's not contagious--it's an OUTER ear infection, but I don't feel good at all. I didn't sleep well last night; since it hurts so badly, it was hard to get comfortable. Every time I moved, it ached and woke me up, then I couldn't get back to sleep right away. So, I "got" 9 hours of sleep, but was up a lot of that. I've never had an ear infection like this before and I hope to never have it again!!!

I haven't eaten anything yet, because I can't really chew. I need to find soup or something...and I'm tired!!!

BLAH!!!

"Luckily, he..."

teehee, I just remembered something. Chris and I have been watching Penn and Teller's Showtime TV series, Bullshit. It's HILARIOUS. It's about the two of them calling people out on the bull they feed people, and the people who are gullible enough to believe it. From IMDB, the plot summary :

"Using a combination of set ups, descriptions, rants and film of practitioners, Penn & Teller show the Bull Shit that's everywhere. The initial show covers mediums or Talkers to the Dead. Penn Jillette explains in the first program that while calling someone a liar or a con man is actionable, "Bull Shit" is safe. Each show has a topic such as Mediums, Fenn Shui, Medical devices or Penis Enlargement. Using humor and experts, they debunk the Bull shit."

And, as far as to them swearing so much, and not getting into legal trouble for what they present and tell people, as Penn says, quoted from someone who posted it on IMDB,

"You'll notice more obscenity than we usually use. That's not just because it's on Showtime and we want to get some attention. It's also a legal matter. If one calls people liars and quacks, one can be sued and lose a lot of one's money. But "motherf---ers" and "ass----s" is pretty safe. If we said it was all scams we could also be in trouble but "bull----!", oddly, is safe. So forgive all the "bull----" language. We're trying to talk about the truth without spending the rest of our lives in court because of litigious motherf-----s."

ANYWAY. Last night we watched an episode about Self-Help groups and books. They don't say that self-help is wrong or bad, but they do talk about how the self-help gurus make a crapload of money by telling people common sense, or making something seem more fabulous than it is. An example: The guy who wrote the book, "Happiness is Free," and charges $125 per session. His profession? A real-estate agent. Another example is a lady who looks like a carnie, charges a buttload of money per session, and makes her clients think the things she's doing are a huge feat (walking on broken glass, holding a wooden arrow between your throat and a wall and walking forward until it breaks, breaking a board, and finally, firewalking), while a physics professor demonstrates why these things aren't big deals at all (broken glass usually lies flat to the ground, and the points aren't facing upward to cut your feet; the arrow is relatively weak and will break when bent, and your throat has cartiledge in it so it doesn't hurt much; if the board is laid the right way, when you hit it, it will break easily; and that if you are using coals from wood to walk on, they don't conduct heat very well, plus, your feet have a lot of thick, dead skin). People come to this lady's sessions numerous times.

My very favorite, though, was this crazy, self-help lady who held seminars and told her female clients at her expensive sessions that they shouldn't ask their significant others for more together time, more intimate time, a bunch of other stuff. One lady went to the front of the group and was talking to the presenter and telling her how her husband died, but when he was living, he didn't want her to have a job. The presenter's response? "Well, luckily, he died." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

It's a GREAT series, and definitely worth it to watch it. Some of their topics, like one we watched last night about teaching Creationism in schools as science, are controversial, and it's NOT saying that Creationism is wrong, necessarily, just that maybe it shouldn't be taught in public schools as a science. Yeah, it's all their opinion, and you don't have to believe what they say, but the way they present it is hilarious, and they DO make some pretty interesting points.

I got my new Stampin' Up order, and YAY I can't wait to play...I just need to find time to play :)
