Why don't we think criticly about some things?

I'm sure that many of you thought I'd abandoned this journal altogether. It has taken a powerful event to coax me into expressing myself. Yet here are my thoughts about this heavily discussed topic. It seems to me that much of the outcry is quite warranted... There seems to be an attitude among journalists that "it's my show and I'll talk the way I want to." The problem is that when you put yourself in the journalist's spotlight, you shape public opinion, even if you're being sarcastic. There are people in this society--and plenty of them--who would not hear his comments the way he intended them. Certainly we all should move on in the face of woundedness; but there needs to be a point at which the issue of wounding is address. The fact that people "turn the other cheek" doesn't make it ok to wound, and I'm glad he got what needed to come to him.
