I'm thinking of starting a new story, but I'm not sure if I should...it would require dredging up things long buried

If the long buried things are somthing that working them out would be good, then I say go for it. But if they are buried because you have worked them out, layed them to rest, and would just be dragging up the molding corpeses of things that you no longer really have any reason take the time and figure out then there might not be as much need for the story. Does that make sense?
