If Katie doesn't want a serious relationship, she should have never gone out with someone who's looking for just that. If she wants to give "serial dating" a shot, she shouldn't "serial date" with people who don't.

Serial dating can turn into a serious relationship. The only difference is, a serial dater doesn't care if it doesn't develop into something greater. She is indeed looking for a serious relationship herself, she just won't get too broken up if she doesn't find one, and will have no qualms about ending something that obviously wouldn't become one (and I saw them together: it was REALLY going nowhere). Perhaps everyone should take up that philosophy, actually

Would just like to note that people in general REALLY need to make it clear what they want. That's probably what this all leads back to - miscommunication.
