August 14th - Gryffindor Common Room (Evening)

Ron had been staring at the fire for at least an hour, and his nose must have crinkled up almost as long because it sure hurt when he pulled it down from that position. How in the hell had that happened? She'd kissed him! A perfectly easy way to get the worst of it over for him, and he kissed her back. Of course he kissed her back, he did want ( Read more... )

Neville looked up from the history scroll he'd been staring at for the past 45 minutes. He realized that he'd managed to doodle a very nice picture of venimous tentacula. Unfortnately, he did not remember Binns discussing the plants in relation to the building of Hogwarts.

"Yes. Please. As long as it doesn't have anything to do with granite."

Ron looked over at the paper and scrunched. "I can't believe you're still in that class, mate...good looking plant, though." Ron propped his feet up on the table, then looked over at his dormmate. "So...when you're done kissing a girl, and the kiss went well, what causes them to run away crying?" he asked like it was a typical, every day question.

Neville grinned. "You do realize that the only girl I've ever officially been anywhere with is your sister. She didn't cry." Neville paused, unable to resist waiting for his reaction.

Ron laughed. "Took us all by surprise that day, you did. You got your chance with Gin before she saw dating every other boy in this school, don't you feel privledged?" Ron shrugged off his slight humor-he was still pleased for Neville about the Yule Ball even that long ago, his lack of humor went to his sister's dating habits...former dating habits-and slouched lower. "I guess that's my problem, too, though. You had a good time at the Yule Ball, so you can count that. I think Padma would rather I didn't...so I've only officially been with one girl, so number two confused the hell out of me."

Neville nodded. He'd known better than to bring the subject up. "Friends with Theodore Nott? The tall Slytherin bloke?"

"That's the one," he said with a nod. "I learned that the hard way in Hogsmeade a while back. We were sitting in the Three Broomsticks and then she invites him to come over and sit with us. I couldn't believe it! I never would have expected that from Hermione, being friends with a Slytherin, and Nott no less. He's still a right prat with me, but Hermione's convinced he's a good person."
