Exploratory Foray Into Crafting

Well! Last week I said I'd do it, so I'm gonna try to follow through! This week my offering to you is three-fold.

Pictures etc. under the cut. Don't mind the horrific quality, I'm an uncannily bad photographer.

So, these bomb-ass cookies are not only delicious, but practically guilt free. My sister and I got the recipes from the awesome-sauce vegan cookie book, Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. They're super low in fat, but high in fiber and other stuff that I'm sure is probably good for you... but you know what? That doesn't even matter because they're fucking delicious. The dark ones are oatmeal espresso chocolate chip, and the light ones are cherry almond bites. We made a couple tweaks to the recipes to suit our needs, and even though I honestly don't know what the originals taste like I'm gonna go ahead and say that ours are even better. We plan on tweaking the recipes even further and maybe using them as bases for other flavor combos. Once that happens I'll be sure to post our findings!

I finally got to use this super cute fabric! I only had about a yard so I wanted to be sure not to waste it on something dumb, but I'm really happy with how this came out. The pattern for this one came from the Lazy Girl Designs blog, but I made a couple adjustments so that I could have a different fabric for the lining and also make the whole thing smaller. Gotta love finding ways to be stingy with your nice fabrics!

Here's a closeup on the rose on the bag. There's one on each side, which would have been perfect to hide snap buttons had I thought to put any on. Whoops. Oh well, I'll remember to do that next time! This tutorial from Moonflower isn't the one I used when I made this (can't find it, grrr...) but it's almost exactly what I ended up doing anyway.

This last one is a sort of...cuff, bracelet, corsage...thing of my own making. I've been trying to come up with designs to sell at Artists' Alley at SacAnime Summer (my sister and I are trying to get a booth, fingers crossed!) and this was one I came up with before I had a chance to go shopping for materials. Besides being easy to make, I want to have stuff that will actually appeal to people/sell. So, any feedback on this one is much appreciated.

That's all for now, hopefully I'll have some more stuff to post next week!
