How the song "Hallelujah" totally and completely relates to Charlie.

Hi fandomsounds and fanmixers. In my first soundtrack ever I used Hallelujah (the orginal being by Lenoard Cohen but I used Jeff Buckley's and Rufus Wainwright's version). This is an explination of just how perfect for Charlie this song is.

Well I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this:
The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Charlie plays bass. The "you don't really care for music. . " line (to me) is a reference to Charlie's brother Liam who's the lead singer in Driveshaft and is more about the sex and drugs than the rock 'n' roll part.

Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya
And she tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Charlie is/was very religious. When the plane crashed, he met Claire, who he was obviously very taken with. "She tied you to her kitchen chair. . ." is about what he's done and gone through to prove his love to her. And Claire once did cut his hair, but not in the Sampson and Delilah way this is talking about.

Baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor, (You know)
I used to live alone before I knew ya
And I've seen your flag on the marble arch
and love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
The "I've seen this room" is probably a mention of Hell (Not the fire and brimstone one but the absence of hope one) which he probaly though he was in when he landed. Note that the line is "before I knew ya" a reference to the fact that he probably lived alone before the crash and now he has to learn to co-exsist with other people. And then we come to the most famous line in the song: "Love is not a victoy march, it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah." Yet another reference to how much he loves Claire. She has not reciprocated but he still loves her and would do anything for her.

Well there was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show that to me do ya
But remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
". . .But now you never show that to me, do ya?" is a reference to Claire's amnesia and how before it there was definatley something going on but with the amnesia, she's very unsure about she feels about him. (A bit uneasy, I'm sure as the day after she "met" him he killed a human for her.) "And remember when I moved in you. . ." hasn't happend (yet), so um, yay for religious imagery!

Maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
A reference to Charlie's (most likely) shattered faith. "But all I've ever learned from love/Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya" is a reference to the fact Charlie's probably never been in love before and all he's really done that's notable (to himself) in his relationship with Claire is shoot Ethan.

So that was the explination as to why I chose "Hallelujah". Hope you now understand.
