Yup, I'm still alive! =)
I know I haven't posted anything in ages, but I haven't had all that much to post.
I still have the job at the alarm company. I still don't like that much, but it's a job and I'm getting some experience that I can hopefully take somewhere else and make more money closer to home. Right now I'm cover reception while our regular receptionist is on maternity leave.
Answering the phone at an alarm company really blows. See, no one actually wants to have a burglar alarm/fire sprinkler system, so when something goes wrong they get really pissed. Even if everything is fine they are still pissed. And for the love of god and all that is holy please do not call business with more than 5 ppl and expect me to know who just called you. If you don't know and Monitoring doesn't know and no one left a message, then maybe it just might be possible that we dialed a wrong number. That's right, in our hurry to call everyone necessary when an alarm goes off in a certain amount of time sometimes we miss dial...
And really, if you call anywhere at noon, please don't be surprised to hear "I'm sorry, Mr. X is currently at lunch". Just be happy that a human answers the phone. But we really do need voice mail - it's hard to take a message and answer all the calls that come in at once. I really have no idea how our receptionist does it without going nuts. Although I suspect that I may have a lower tolerance for assholes.
E has been at Burning Man thanks to the_angelus, brokenheather, redhot_soul, and darklysewn. I anxiously await his return tomorrow. I only wish it were a shorter drive there and back. I miss my novadrome.
I did take advantage of the empty house. I did a serious amount of dusting. Like OMFG a lot. I even busted out the crevice tool. Muwahahaha. I did a metric fuck-ton of internet surfing. I even re-started quilting Eric's space quilt that his mom made (it was just tied, so it got pretty damaged along some of the seems.)
I made some baked mac and cheese. Yummmmmmy! I was hoping to surprise a E with it for dinner tonight though. Meh!
